We stayed in this hotel for a mini vacation with our granddaughter for 4 days. We were just before the hotel closes (end of season). The hotel was full. We had a room with a balcony and a sea view - wonderful. The room was big, clean. A cot was prepared for the granddaughter. The bathroom may be a bit dated. The choice of food (breakfast, dinner) was large and it was good. Most of the staff were very friendly. Only the employees who cleaned the tables in the dining room were in a worse mood. We didn't go to the pool, because there were always a lot of people. We preferred to take advantage of the beautiful sunny days for walks.

On paper this hotel looked best on our trip but reminded me of a cheap pensioners hotel on Costa del Sol. It was packed and breakfast was a scrum. Aircon poor, shower broken, keys to room kept failing . No free water and shop shut with bar water 4 euros a bottle. Taxi or 30 minute walk to town. Won’t go back when come to this beautiful part of the world again

We required some room facilities through hotel application form but it seems nobody reads this. Also the receptionist didn't inform us about additional facilities we can use so we had to remind him. Restaurant food is ok but there is a feeling that there is not enough stuff and that they cannot prepare tables on time. The room was ok but needs renovation. Cooling unit was leaking and during the first night ceiling fell on the floor and we had water all over. Hotel reacted fast and during our breakfast they repaired the ceiling. After repairing water was steel pouring from the climate but ceiling didn't fall again during our stay. Room was cleaned every day and that was ok. Last day we spotted cockroaches on the floor.

We went for a week 13 - 20 August and we had a good family holiday. Good food, especially seafood, for the buffet breakfasts and dinners (we were half board). There are several beaches that are within a 5 minute walk of the hotel but the hotel beach was a series of concrete platforms that had ladders into sea. Our only minus point was that the rooms were very basic for the price. We were on the fourth floor and the water pressure was very up and down. Good kids club and the mini water park was enough for our seven year old; however any child over 11 would find both boring.

The hotel was very clean the room was great wifi was good food repetitive but OK but if you are British don't expect to hear English spoken I was there for 2 weeks heard English spoken once by a three people in the next complex . Our welcome letter in the room was in German no trips from the hotel only a train to take you to Umag (cost £13 ) we felt very isolated with the language barrier. We are a couple that like to see the surrounding towns but no buses running only taxi which were expensive The weather was perfect but won't return.

Over the past 25 years I've been staying in number of Plava Laguna's hotels including Hotel Umag for my work, and on vacations with my family. I would characterize this hotel chain with a word "convenient" – providing relatively decent ratio of services and prices. Same goes for Hotel Umag. Rooms are equipped with cheap furniture, but are overall decent, and good size. Food is average at most; on the scale of 1 (insufficient) to 5 (excellent), I would rate it with minus 3. Nevertheless, there is enough choice, so unless you are really picky, I believe you can find something that you will like. What we really liked is that hotel is located right on the beach, with sunbeds and beach towels which are free of charge. The beach in front of hotel is paved, with rocks inside the sea, so not perfect for small kids, but two minutes walk away towards the Hotel Sipar (which also belongs to Plava Laguna), there is a small sand beach. Some staff obviously needs more training/information, since we were forwarded between reception and the beach several times in order to finally get beach towels (we arrived around 5 PM, so there was nobody with the towels at the beach any more). Due to COVID restrictions it was not possible to use gym whenever you want to, and pre-booking was required. Since gym in very small and can fit just a few people anyway, it was actually much better to have it booked for an hour, than to just pop up there. There is an indoor swimming pool which may be convenient if the weather is not good. Outdoor swimming pool is decent size, but people tend to reserve sunbeds with their towels very early in the morning, so unless you do the same, you will be left without the sunbeds at the swimming pool for the rest of the day. At 9:00 AM there were just 6 people at the swimming pool, but all sunbeds were already taken, and mostly empty for several more hours. I believe this kind of conduct is not appropriate and should be addressed by hotel personnel in a way some other hotels are doing; if there is nobody on a sunbed for 30 minutes, towel is removed by hotel personnel. We were staying in the room overlooking garden, since they are quieter than those with sea view. At the sea side of the hotel there is a swimming pool with kids playing during the day, and the bar with music in the evening (although not too long), so if you are sensitive to this, choose the room at the opposite side of the hotel. So why do I give such a bad mark. Because I hope some of the hotel management will look into this review, and make sure that they train their staff so our experience (described bellow) does not repeat to other Croatian guests. What we really didn't find appropriate is the rude, unprofessional and uneducated behavior of the receptionist at our check out. On the web site of Plava Laguna you can find the following statement: "Plava Laguna is a proud partner of the e-Children's Card - Mudrica project implemented by the Central State Office for Demogra

We stayed here for 2 nights. The size room was good and it was clean. It was hot in the room, AC was not working (they said it’s just May and they didn’t turn on it yet). The fridge in the room was not cold enough (it was almost the same temperature in the fridge as in the room). We booked 1 double bed, we get 2 beds together (at least they were big). But it’s not what we booked and payed for. Sea view was amazing (NOT!), we couldn’t see any sea from balcony cause there were plenty of trees… don’t pay more for a sea view - it’s not worth it. The food (breakfast and dinner) were good. I wouldn’t come back for that kind of price, it’s overated.
