On arrival I was slightly nervous as the reviews are very mixed. The manager I have to say was welcoming and honest, he informed us that the pub gets very busy and everyone from the other pubs finish their night in this hotel so to expect noise until 1am, he didn’t lie! The noise from outside was horrific, there were people screaming, singing, shouting and VOMITING whilst getting jeered on while bringing up the contents of their days food and drink! The rooms were tired and creaky, walls are paper thin , I heard the man next door fart! It was vile! This hotel was the most expensive of our trip, we paid £123 a night for a Luxury hotel in aberfeldy and this hotel had the cheek to charge us £150! Which didn’t include breakfast. Do not go here if you want a decent sleep or if you are less able as the rooms are up some steep stairs. Such a shame to end our trip like this, this could be a stunning hotel if the owner would be prepared to change a few things.

We had noted previous reviews but this was the only place with vacancies when we were looking for accommodation a few months ago. Really wish we has not bothered. This is not a hotel but a local pub with rooms. On the plus side, the rooms were furnished with nice bedding and towels and the bathroom was clean. However, the room badly needed redecorating. The carpet was mingy, to the point it was crusty. Our room on the 2nd floor was stifling. The walls were paper-thin. Doors were banging shut all the time from other guests. The worst experience however, was the noise from the revellers using the pub until the early hours. The landlord apologised but that did nothing to stop the problem. It really is not a comfortable or restful stay but it was the most expensive of all the accommodation on our 2 week holiday. We have stayed in some wonderful places but we would not recommend this.

The staff at the bar are friendly and the breakfast was ok. The place is expensive and needs money spending on it - even just the crap in the stairs. All with breakfast for two of us on NC 500 (£99.98 premier Inn Dumbarton 5*), Station Inn Alness 5* £100) This was £171 - outrageous. I don't think the owners care, there is limited accommodation in Ullapool so just spend nothing on the hotel and charge a fortune. Scruffy and you stick to every surface you touch. Take more time and look for a B&B

Popped in here for a nosh. Barman was friendly and we had haggis bonbons salad and rump lamb. All were delicious. A very nice stop..... filled with locals and the occasional tourist which makes it even better!!! A very nice hotel and staff...

Great location, that’s the good point, rooms were tired and and very dated, and certainly not cheap compared to similar priced Hotels on the NC500 route. The bar below the bed rooms is noisy and what sounded like Karioke went on to 01.00 am. We later discovered it’s where all the local revellers head for after last orders. Not cheap , not comfortable, certainly not quiet, not recommended..

We have stayed here several times over the years, NEVER again! We followed the directions to the car park/dumping ground to find the rear entrance locked, with no directions as to where to go. We walked around the block to the front which was also locked, but at least there was a note on the door sending us to the sister hotel the Ferry Boat Inn, which is down a precarious slope opposite the Argyll Hotel. The lady in the Ferry Boat insisted that the Argyll Hotel was open, so we went back up the slope and we were eventually allowed into the hotel. After we checked in we were allowed to access the car park to collect our luggage. After dropping our luggage in the room which to be fair was clean and bright, we descended the stairs to find the access to the car park locked again. Despite this we decided to have a drink and a bar meal in the hotel. The staff were friendly and the food was good. However we stuck to every surface we touched and the gents toilets were a disgrace. They call themselves a dog friendly pub, I would make sure that your dogs are fully vaccinated and in robust health before you take the risk of letting them venture into the bar. Breakfast was served in the sister hotel the Ferry Boat which is almost as dilapidated as the Argyll Hotel. After breakfast we found the access to the car park locked again with no one around to let us out!

Staff was welcoming and friendly but the hotel smelled awful the stairway carpet was well worn and dirty looking Manager showed us to the room and said we got the best room with view it was brilliant so that was a distraction to how the room was at 1st it’s the worst room a have ever been in the carpet was crispy to say the least filthy couldn’t walk without my shoes on it felt that bad, dark chocolate brown or green walls made it feel like a hostel the purple accessories were outdated , the bathroom was mouldy on the roof around the shower hair on the floor from previous poeple toothpaste marks over the tap on sink from other poeple mirror is rusty and shower head needs a good clean , a hope the money we paid as it was not cheap they put towards some cleaning or replacement of carpet Didn’t even chance eating complementary breakfast just got up and left

Where do I start? The Hotel was locked when w e got there So, as per s paper sign we went to the FerryBoat pub n the street below. The Pub landlady (who I have to says works hard but with no system) too us to our room Thence the e ring seat and pedestal was detached from the pedestal and left on top of the bathroom unit "Oh I will replace that within a couple of minutes" I was assured. So we went poff to find somewhere else to eat an evening meal It looked very tired We came back maybe 3 hours later and the ring seat had not been replaced. Again I complained and at last a man came and brought a new one I guarantee that, if it has not done so already, it will come off again. That night as we tried to sleep with windows open the pub let out its customers who were enjoying the raucous banter out below our room In the morning there was no hot water in the basin Oh well I used a kettle to helpo me shave Breakfast was not in the hotel but in the pun below where we had to be sat in the public bar The food was ok the bedding clean but the superlatives end there It is the sort of place where everything sticks to you when you touch by hand and one where toy wipe your feet when you get outside. !! Dreadful And I am being kind! PS as another guest signed out he said "there is no hot water in Room 5," So we suspect there was not hot water " Take a tent next time!

This is a cracking dog friendly hotel. The attached Ferry Inn is an added bonus. Always good to go to hotels who are truly dog friendly and relaxed, this place is. Lovely rooms which are immaculate with awesome views. Bar is lovely with an open fire and food is delicious (Cullen skink is superb) There was a man working who I wish I’d got the name of, he was just awesome. He met us with a warm welcome in the ferry inn yesterday and served us breakfast in the hotel today and is the very definition of an absolute grafter! This lad deserves a pay rise - he is awesome and amazing at his job. Thank you.
