The surprise in Úbeda was staying in the garden room of the Úbeda Castle Hotel. We arrived at the hotel at 4 o'clock. Half of the area was under maintenance, but the front desk arranged a room with a garden for us, which was the best arrangement during this trip to southern Spain.

The location and the hotel were very good. Some parts of the room (lamps, for example) looked like they could be improved with a little investment. The breakfast, compared to other paradores, was weaker than average.

I loved this hotel because it’s authentic and real while also very luxurious by my standards. The jr suite had two rooms and a huge bathroom, large operating windows leading to balconies overlooking the main plaza. Service is excellent. The restaurant is tops with cuisine and service to match.

This is a beautiful Parador right on the main square in Úbeda. It is the perfect place to stay in this magical town. The town is renowned for its exceptional Renaissance architecture and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This "Parador de Úbeda," is officially known as Parador de Turismo Condestable Dávalos, and is indeed located within the UNESCO World Heritage zone of Úbeda's historic center. The building itself is a 16th-century Renaissance palace that was once the residence of the noble Dávalos family. The rooms are spacious and give you a feeling of staying in a Renaissance building. And of course, you are. It was a great stay and one I am so glad we didn't miss.

Having visited a number of paradors, this one falls well short of the standard expected. On entering the building, the only part of the parador with natural light is a building site. It would be nice to have been informed of this beforehand. The room was dingy with little or no natural light. To cap it all there were no tea/coffee making facilities and when I asked at the reception, was told that only two rooms in the parador had this facility (maybe in two or three months I was told). Even the most basic hotels surely have this facility. I love paradors, but this one is well off the mark. It won't put me off paradors but it leaves me a little frustrated.

A beautiful building with lots of history. Our room was spacious and very comfortable with a lovely terrace. The restaurant staff were lovely and we really enjoyed both the breakfasts and dinners we had at the Parador trying some local cuisine which was explained to us by the staff. A great location in the centre of Úbeda. Double check how the building renovations are going before booking as they may have an impact.

The location was stunning and spoilt only by renovation work on the hotel of which we were unaware. The outside was partially sheeted and the main inner courtyard was in a similar state whilst being worked on so not the tranquil experience I was expecting. Our room was brilliant.
