Trump Turnberry

Firstly it pains me to leave this review as I greatly admire the owner of this hotel but I don’t think he knows how it’s run. Mr trump is a remarkable man this hotel is not. It’s greatly overpriced for a mediocre hotel we booked a room through the vio site £620 for a deluxe room we arrived and were given our room I must point out the valet was a lovely chap very accommodating did not get he’s name. We checked in all good given room number they said our bag would follow. We went in to room it was small and well used with a view of another building ten feet away and as we sat waiting for luggage which never arrived we noticed that the complimentary fruit was rotten looked two weeks old and room was rough so we went down after 30-40 minutes to complain still no luggage. They said the fruit left on side was disgusting and apologised and bumped our room up to a balcony room which should cost £1100 believe me not worth it but we tried to enjoy. I’ve stopped in other hotels with much better rooms for circa £300 but were there now got washed went down stairs booked food in the restaurant 1904 for 7.30 pm so while we were waiting we ordered two drinks at bar vodka lemonade and a house wine cheap wine cost £39 pounds for these then into restaurant I have never had worse over priced food I’m my life we sent one dish back uneaten still tried to charge us for it rubber off scallops when your next to the sea unbelievable then a starter one voul a vont cheap freezer type £24 it’s a joke but we went up and retired ensured breakfast would be good omg what can I say it was unbelievable bad cheap over cooked eggs I can not express what a bad breakfast this was on the hole I’ve stopped in better Hilton’s bad service bad food mediocre overpriced rooms unfortunately I would never stop there again a sleep in would be better

Excellent 3 night stay with the family to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Even though none of us play golf, loads to do, great food, amazing accommodation & facilities and wonderful staff. Whilst there were a small number of minor issues, all were dealt with very pleasantly. Highlights - our (horse-mad) daughter loved her time at the equestrian centre & beach ride on Sox; our son by contrast loved the clay-pigeon shooting. Whilst the weather was kind, we would love to return in the spring or summer.

A horrible smell permeated around the hotel and there were stains on the bedding. For the money I paid I'd expect a 5 star experience, but what I got was 1 star - and that's being generous. Advise anyone thinking of staying there to think again. The local Travelodge is better

We booked for a special anniversary weekend in a Deluxe King room, having stayed previously at the hotel. We arrived after 5pm and the Porter organised our luggage to our room and the parking of our car, all in a welcoming pleasant manner, a good start. We went up to our room and the porter put the luggage in the room and wished us a happy stay. Nice touch, anniverary card and four macrons in the room, thank you. The room was nothing like we had previously experienced, it was cramped and dominated by a huge TV in front of the bed. Deluxe it was not, it was tired and lack lustre and would have benefitted from a deep clean. The bathroom was of a good size but the toiletries are not quality, they were not replenished during our two night stay, so take your own as one small shower gel will not suffice for two adults. The view was over the fountain where all the cars arrive and depart, not at all private. Felt quite dissapointed. Making the most of it we ate supper in The Duel and the Sun (golf club) on the first night which is more pub grub - prawn cocktail, fish cakes to start followed by two perfectly cooked steaks, lovely. On return to our room it was hot and stuffy so we put on the fan/airconditioning which was so noisy and was like water running loudly all night, some serious maintenance required. The next morning breakfast was haphazard as not enough tables set for all the guests, some having to wait for others to finish. Breakfast was okay but staff run off their feet as not enough on to cope with number of guests, this is a management problem. The standard of the breakfast products were not as good as previously experienced, sadly. After breakfast we met housekeeping on our corridor and asked if we could please have another bottle of still water in our room, room number provided, but sadly this never happened. Dinner was booked for the 1906 restaurant on the Saturday evening. I had asked reception in the morning, if we could please have a table by the window as it was our anniverary and they said they would pass our request, sadly this did not happen either. We had a table by the door. The chefs introduction was a demi tasse of broccoli veloutte which was tepid. Next Fire Alarms and everyone had to evacuate the building, it was freezing but we understand the necessity. It was 10 minutes later back in the restaurant, frozen and then waited 25 minutes for prawn and crab cocktail and goats cheese and beetroot - they were okay but nothing special. Then waited 40 minutes for overcooked duck and lemon sole . This is some of the worst food we have had in a long time and certainly no way 5 star. There was a wedding on the same evening and sadly not enough staff to cope with demand. When we paid our bill, we brought the above comments to the receptionist attention, she said she was sorry and would pass on our comments to the relavent parties. What a beautiful day and what a view. Welcome on arrival was superb. However after having been seated, we had to ask for a menu, no one came to take our order so we ordered ourselves at the bar. Firstly the wrong wine was delivered but this was exchanged. No one asked to either taste the wine or to pour, we did this ourselves. One drink was forgotten another trip to the bar. First time this has ever happened so quite disappointing on this occasion.
