i would say this hotel has so much potential to become a great hotel, from a mediocre hotel it is now. The location is perfect.. within the vicinity of the famous Taiping Lake Garden but towards Bukit Larut. Though it is bit out of the main road, it is still good reach by vehicles. Or if u stay without vehicle, u still can call for Grab for food. etc. I saw an archery field at the back of the hotel. And i know, nearly there is a waterfall area. In front of this property, there is another equally interesting looking accommodation called Kamal Lodge that i can clearly see from my room Room 204. My room, though a Standard Room, was adequately furnished, though the aircond was OK OK only prolly because they use 1hp aircond, for a relatively big room. The towel though clean, was already old and time to change it. Breakfast was additional RM25 though i didnt take it, but i saw the restaurant was big and welcoming. The lobby i thnk, can be further improved. Prolly, u guys can provide bicycle renting service etc to the guest. Maybe they have, i didnt asked. I just wish the lobby and the lift have more soft touch to make the guest more..welcomed? But the lobby staffs were courteous and friendly and accommodating as i need to borrow their phone charger for a while. some newer hotel stayed already have the USB plug in the room though. anyway, i still want to recommend this place for families..as their pool look interesting for kids..though the water looked bit murky. and the big room of course. But ya i want to come back in the future to check on their progress!

Sentosa Villa

Checked in, had to pay immediately which is unusual..small room for 2 and very very basic, a/c blowing smelly air on my head and immediately I felt it was going to be a difficult stay. Asked to be moved to what turned out to be the honeymoon suite. Again super-basic for 120rm extra per night but good size for elderly mum and I sharing a king bed (quilt was queen?). One towel each, no face towel, one floor mat. Aware that daily room clean is available but had read of things going missing for other visitors so abstained - no safe. No breakfast and no real facilities to cook for yourself. Really? Town is only a 5 minute drive but for every meal, it’s a big drag. We brought fruit back to our room as there is a little fridge. Room interior needs serious upgrade as it’s dark, dreary and a bit spooky at night. Some silly villa design features: - open wardrobe in path of one bedside means you keep hitting your head on the hangers on the way to your side of the bed - same bedside had no light of its’ own - hardwood bed corners need to be marked so we don’t keep hitting our toes at night - a shower curtain would stop the whole bathroom floor and toilet getting wet every time one has a shower - the outdoor balcony steps are so steep and close to barrier that if you lost your footing in the poorly-lit outdoor area, you’d fall right over the balcony side. - nowhere to put bath items needed when showering - a little shelf wd do. Front desk staff are helpful where they are able to be, but place felt a bit lifeless, esp. as there is no communal eating area. No faulting the spectacular settings but forget dipping your feet in the water nearby let alone having a swim. Barbed wire and preventative rock embankments (newly installed according to my mum who visited at least twice before - 2011 and 2017) sully the desire to cool off or to really immerse yourself in the setting. To be fair, it is a natural spring that provides fresh water to the people of Taiping so won’t argue on that front. Saw monkeys, butterflies, snake-shaped fern, huge millipede, multivaried greenery. This place has so much potential but it feels as if we are discouraged from enjoying the natural surrounds as much as we’d like…a bit ‘shut shop’. The really generous part of our stay was the jungle and it’s teeming life.

Axis Hotel

Tupai|5.03km from city centre
Stayed here for 3 nights in room 12. Generally, the hotel is clean, and for a budget hotel reasonably maintained. Like most budget hotels, a little TLC would not hurt. The room has no window or any natural ventilation. I could see some mould on the ceiling of the room and on the shower pipes. I could smell damp the moment I entered the room, but given the Malaysian MCO situation, it was acceptable. The bed, towels and sheets were clean, but in real need of replacement. The mattress cover was badly stained, although I thought it smelled clean. The hand towel was in a deplorable state, virtually falling apart as my photos show. The bed was okay and about par for a budget hotel. There was also a pair of flippers supplied, which I would’ve only used in the most desperate of situations (look at the photos). There was AC in the room, but I found it unreliable. In the main, it works. Sometimes it blows cold air as expected, other times it blows lukewarm air. It was more noticeable because I was stuck in the room most of the day due to the aforementioned MCO. Otherwise I would've been out sightseeing and therefore less of an issue. The reception has drinks and snacks, at reasonable prices. The reception is also manned all the time as far as I could tell. The staff are professional, courteous and do a good job of keeping the hotel clean. Location wise, Axis Hotel is pretty much in the middle of Taiping where most of the Heritage trail and attractions are. The Taiping Lake Gardens is about 1km walk away. Overall, I had a reasonable stay at the hotel. The facilities are fine for the price paid. The facilities are about what's expected. The thing that really let the room down was the damp in the room and toilet/bathroom. Otherwise, I would’ve given the hotel another star.

A few improvements need to be upgrade for guests comfort....there is no dustbin in the room only in the bathroom....no hooks or rack to hang clothes , towel ...
Kimal Hotel Taiping
3.7/56 Reviews
My lovely wife and I spent two nights at this hotel when visiting Taiping. It's an OK place to stay for a couple of nights. The rooms are small & fairly simple but have most everything you need - a comfy bed, air conditioning, a kettle, a reasonably hot shower. A chair at the desk would be a useful addition, as would a mini fridge. As many other reviews have mentioned, there is no elevator at the property so be prepared to climb the stairs. Our room was on the amusingly named floor 3A, which is basically the 4th floor but I guess they just don't like to admit it. To be fair, rooms on higher floors are a little bit cheaper so you are rewarded for your efforts! We paid RM88 plus tax per night for a standard double which makes it a reasonable budget option. Just don't expect any frills.
The Regency Hotel Seri Warisan

This is the very first time the hotel having a big group of people staying here for a 4D3N meeting. They are not in situation at first but manage to cope with it eventually. When we request for something, they try their best to provide to us. The staffs are friendly, the room is spacious.
Hotel Seri Malaysia Taiping
3.7/543 Reviews
Basic accommodations. Decent room size, larger than most. Furnishing dated, due for upgrade. Direct hot water heater /shower, shower area tiled but no curtain/door, thus bathroom tend to be wet. Coffee, tea and bottled water provided. TV with some Astro channels. Wifi was ok, probably only because the router was just outside the room. Breakfast provided was basic; nasi lemak, fried noodles, baked beans, bread and some kueh. Location just beside the Lake Gardens, outside of the town centre, so less traffic noise during the night. Was given a room near the swimming pool, so was woken up quite early due to the noise from the children having a morning pool play.(probably again because of school holidays) Overall, value for the room size, got a reasonable night rest.
Flemington Hotel
4.1/544 Reviews
My wife and I recently made our way to Taiping which was where she grew up. This trip was therefore akin to a post-pandemic pilgrimage of sorts to revisit her roots. We had high expectations and the Flemington Hotel did it's part to deliver on an overall good experience. Wendy Yong, the Front Desk Manager was generous with her time and very hospitable. The hotel was slightly weathered by time but the customer experience and location by the Lake Gardens was superb. It was also within walking distance of a range of hawker fare. I'd recommend a lake-facing room for an excellent view.
