Amazing getaway. Perfect place for a destination wedding or adding a quiet escape in the jungle to the Tulum experience. So much to explore yet incredibly quiet, serene and very relaxing. Three perfect pools, a yoga studio you won’t want to leave, a stunning cenote to swim in, other cenotes to explore, and a beautiful little lake to kayak and paddle board around. We felt like we had the entire resort to ourselves— we only saw other guests at the restaurant and the cenote tour. The staff really go above and beyond, learning names, teaching you about the area, and making sure you have everything you need, especially Cuauhtémoc and David. The cenote tour with David was a highlight of our trip — do NOT miss it! Beautiful food in a beautiful location. Starting our day with breakfast overlooking the lake was another family favorite. But it is the jungle so there are a few more mosquitoes than by the beach— but the resort manages it well with smoke and bug spray to hand should you need it. We will be back!

Wakax is an other-worldly place where one can hear the sounds and silence of the jungle. The ancient Maya and the Mexican cultures are reflected in the smiles and warmth received from everyone on the property. There are bicycles provided to explore the paths, and cenotes to discover. There is plenty of space to find solitude with pure nature. The buildings have such high ceilings and are constructed with the finest wood, and the floors and walls of beautiful limestone. Every detail is lovely. My sons and I went in the underground river from one cenote to the next with a guide named David. His passion for the area's history, geography, formations, and wildlife, made the adventure so much more fascinating. When we return, we will stay longer!

Five stars, without a doubt. Wakax Hacienda sits at the end of a quiet road where the jungle leans in and everything slows down. The cenotes and cave are stunning filled with cool, calm ancient water. It’s truly off the beaten path: no club beats, no all‑inclusive chaos, just nature doing its thing. David, the resident guide, knows every trail and ripple, and shares the Mayan stories rooted in the land. Nature is the main event, and David opens it up: bats whispering through caves, birds sitting atop trees, tiny cave spiders at work, pigs grazing in the courtyard. He’s generous and kind, and you finish each outing feeling lucky. It was our first time in Mexico, and Wakax surprised us with its calm—slow mornings, softly lit nights, an old-school kind of peace. The resort is about preservation, not just luxury: protecting the wild and honoring the haciendas of the past. If you want a different Tulum—no hustle, no haggling, no getting lost in a maze—this is it. Come for the silence and the sense that you’re a guest of the jungle, not the other way around.

Wakax Hacienda is simply wonderful. Wandering through jungle trails, you can discover three cenotes, 3 swimming pools and a beautiful lagoon for boating and paddleboarding around an island and past a waterfall. The resort’s tour guide, David, is excellent and there is no charge for the tours. After an interesting overview of history and geology, we followed him into an underground river for 40 minutes of gawking at beautiful limestone formations and various bats, lizards and fish. He approaches the role with patience, humor and enthusiasm. The food is excellent and all staff were friendly and helpful. We had a baby with us and were provided with a crib, high chair and even a child sized robe. One pool in particular was great for her because is has a large sloping shallow end.

This was a relaxing and magical place to stay. It is a large property that will feel like you have it all to yourself...strange at first, but easy to relax into. It's fun to hop on one of the loaner bicycles and explore the property. The morning yoga classes with Carla were wonderful and the studio view is awesome! The tours with David are great. The underground river tour was fantastic and David was very patient and encouraging when I got nervous. David also gave us great suggestions of sites to see off the property and restaurants to visit. I had one of the best meals of my life at a restaurant he suggested...thanks David! The hotel room was clean and comfortable. The pool areas and sitting areas were clean and comfortable. The property is particularly magical in the evening. There are lights strung up everywhere and candles in little nooks. It's lovely. Staying here was very relaxing and definitely a different type of experience. I enjoyed it all except the mosquitoes.😉
