Wonderful hotel, with tons of history and charm. The pool and public spaces are fantastic. My only potential criticism would be that our room was a bit long in the tooth an could use a refresh- but this is definitely a hotel that is all about its history so it sort of fits. (And the history is cool- built by a woman, Isabella Greenway, who was the first Congresswoman from AZ, was married to not one but two guys who were Rough Riders at San Juan Hill, and much more). For example the closet is huge, like 8'x 6', over 20 square feet, because people used to move in for months at a time with steamer trunks. It is all casita style- so you have a little patio and the rooms are big. It is sort of a campus, and has beautiful gardens. It is very charming. and very central, near the university. I think they do a big wedding business. We only stayed one night en route to our stay at a dude ranch south of Tucson (Elkhorn ranch) and it was perfect. Definitely going back next year. The New York Times had an article about it being Linda Ronstadt's favorite hotel when she comes to visit her family.
