I am sick and tired of service-oriented businesses using Covid as an excuse to not only not give any service but what service they give is horrible. The people at the front desk have no idea what they are doing. I asked if a complimentary upgrade was available and the young man at the desk said yes but after about 20 minutes of clicking on the computer he admitted he had no idea how to switch my room. Then he said he would go and get his manager. Then he came out and said his manager was on the phone and he had no idea when he would be available. It's in my profile that I want the top floor, when I requested that he told me he couldn't put me on the top floor because they were cleaning the carpet, just they could come in and clean my carpet 2 days later while I was still staying there. On top of all of that, the first night I got almost no sleep because I was put in room 102 right under the stairs, and for some reason, some animals thought it would be cool to play on the stairs at 0100 and at 0230. That room should never be assigned to anyone. All in all, it was a horrible stay. I will give Hampton Inn a chance on my next visits to Troy, which will be many between now and July of 2022. I vote with my money and by the way, we will be having other consultants staying in the area, not just me, and I will be sharing my experience with them as well. Solution? Hire people that care just a little about customer service and not about playing grab tail with the new girl. Complaints fall on deaf ears here. There were no food and amenities. I had to plug into the wall behind the end table by the bed because the lamp plugs were inoperative and there was nothing but cobwebs and dirt back there. It appeared that the room hadn't been deep cleaned in like forever.
