We arrived very tired after travelling for nearly 24 hours , check in was very basic as was reception, not a great welcome feeling. We had breakfast straight away as we arrived at 8.00 am , breakfast was ok with a decent offering if cooked items and pancakes as well as fruit . We slept most of the day after eating and on waking realised we only had 1 bottle of water some of which we had drunk on arrival to last us till morning, I went to reception to ask for more till morning and was told each room only had 1 bottle per day. Really ! After thinking about it back in the room I found this hard yo beleive do I returned to reception to query this , eventually after 15 minutes of complaining to the guy he relented andcsaid he would send us another bottle to the room . Not a promising start , we're they really that tight they couldn't provide more water ? Anyway in summary, bad points , food choices very limited if you like meat , only ever 1 choice of meat with evening meal, 1 night was beef which was rarely cooked , another night was lamb which was mainly fat abd again barely cooked, after complaining to the restaurant manager Dan , who was very helpful and did his utmost to resolve this , I was served a lovely meal of steak and chips cooked to my liking by the chef. Tbh it never really improved despite Dan's efforts and was told off the record by a couple of members of staff it was all down to the management not allowing the catering staff to buy better ingredients down to costs. The rooms were in desperate need of upgrading and the restaurant was still looking like it hadn't been improved since the hotel opened in 1984 ! The whole hotel although only a 3 star is in desperate need of investment and is in several areas very scruffy and worn out , the paintwork is dirty especially on the banister handrails on the main staircase , see pics attached. Good points, fantastic beach and waterfront setting , the staff are a credit to the hotel a few of whom are very loyal and longserving but apparently do not receive the recognition they deserve, ie Dan & Malina in the restaurant. Overall we feel we were vastly overcharged for our 10 night all inclusive stay which was to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! I would definitely not recommend this hotel as value for money, there are much nicer hotels available on the island from what we heard whilst there.
