Went here for a late lunch and wasn't disappointed. The restaurant was busy so we asked to sit outside as the weather was nice and that wasn't an issue. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, I had the spicy prawns as a starter and my husband the Caesar salad both were very tasty. I then had half lobster and my husband had the cheese burger. The lobster was excellent and the Thermidor sauce was extremely tasty. As I was driving I had the non alcoholic rose wine which to my surprise was nice. Will definitely be returning

Returned to this restaurant after many many years, obviously new owners and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is lovely and clean and well decorated. All the staff were very helpful and professional. The atmosphere was warm and cosy and views are amazing, especially if you catch a red sunset over Arran. The food was lovely, the cream of carrot soup was perfect and just what was needed on a wet summers evening. The chicken schnitzel was great as where the fluffy double cooked chips. Served on a hot plate and I mean hot for a welcome change. Good sized portions, just enough and well presented. Prices are average for the area and type of restaurant. They also do gluten free options for those who need it. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Recommended and will definitely return

We went to admire the view having been recommended to go there. The setting was lovely and we got the window table we had requested. Service was excellent and the food great. Taking items from the fixed price menu meant an excellent meal at a very good price.

We went here last week and I don’t think I will ever be back again! From the food, deadly atmosphere, and the rude lady who calls herself a manager, it was the worst experience eating out I think we’ve all ever had. If you want to eat alone with no atmosphere and rude staff then this place is for you. Never again!

Enjoyed good food and menu choice for Dinner. Staff very attentive and efficient. Made you feel welcome and allowed to relax over meal and coffees later. Good venue for celebrations and short holidays in Ayrshire. Location of Hotel has beautiful views of the Clyde and Arran.

I attended the hotel for a family funeral tea in November 2024 and was so disappointed with the sandwiches and scones. Whilst they were presented beautifully they appeared stale. It appears that they may have been made earlier and just left uncovered to let the air harden the bread. I would have expected a higher standard of sandwiches/scones at the price that the family was charged from this establishment. On a positive note the setting of the hotel was beautiful and the mini cakes were lovely.

A small group of 30 people attending a funeral tea (wake) but whilst the setting is lovely the sandwiches and scones were hugely disappointing. So many people commented on them and a very large amount of the food was left. At £22.50 per head I would have expected the softest of sandwiches and a better selection. We wondered if they hadn’t been covered and maybe prepared the day before. I didn’t complain as it had been a difficult time for all the family leading up to this day.

Booked this hotel back in May for 1 night, for a September wedding. Arrived at the hotel to check in at which time the front of house could not find out booking using our name. We showed them our confirmation email and email trail of communication regard early check in for the wedding during which we had been advised our room would be cleaned first that morning to have it ready for us. The staff acknowledged and accepted that this was confirmation from them however proceeded to tell us there was no rooms. Worried about time they allowed me to get partially ready for the wedding in a disabled toilet. The staff member proceeded to phone around hotels nearby which were all fully booked and advised the only one available was a £300per night hotel (more than double the price we were expecting to pay for Highgrove). With some discussion and demanding as we needed somewhere to stay for the night, the staff at Highgrove recontacted the available hotel to secure the room and paid the difference of the rooms.
