Unprepossessing 2 star hotel with entrance off street. First floor of apartment building. Rooms fine, nicely decorated air con good bathrooms. TV. Wi fi. Friendly staff. Nice continental breakfast. Key to this hotel is location. Very close to Grand Canal area 1 minute walk. So great for bars restaurants walking down to Olly cafe and ferries to Muggia (7 mins amble,). Have checked out other hotel locations for Trieste visit. Absolutely no. 1. Would stay again.

In short: best place to stay in central Triëst. Atmospheric building, comfortable and well-equipped appartments (home cooking), professional staff. We checked in late in a weekend, so (due to covid-restrictions) no staff at reception - but information by sms and e-mail how to check in (and park our car) was easy and complete. Had a great stay, wishing we could have stayed for a week or so.

We had some issues getting to the hotel due to the very slow passport control at Trieste airport and so turned up about 12:30 in the morning. Once we found the hotel we rang the bell several times and did not notice the sign stating that if closed go to the Intercontinental on the other side of the pedestrian area. The receptionist came across and guided us to the other hotel where we booked in and then he came across, showed us the key to get in and up to the lift where we went up to our suite. The suite was a good size with a microwave, fridge, kettle, pots and pans etc. The room was clean and the bed comfortable and the room was quiet so we got a good nights sleep. The breakfast is in the other hotels' restaurant but it is less than a minute to walk across to it. Breakfast choice was not great - you have to choose your breakfast from a menu and it would have been better to have a buffet type. The hotel was quite expansive and I did not feel that it was worth the cost.

The hotel is located in the heart of Trieste. Very nice and calm location with elegent interior and kind staff. The room was very clean and spacious, it was cleaned every day. The room temperature was convenient and the air conditioning was not noisy. The breakfast is a fully served one. The concept is nice and we started to like it very much at the end of our vacation. The food was tasty, but the selection was not very large, particularly if you have some dietary restrictions. After a couple of days, you can get bored of the selection.

We stayed four nights in The Modernist Hotel in mid October. The location was an easy 20 minute walk from the main train station and centrally located between the water and two interesting neighborhoods. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pleasant and satisfying. I am very sensitive to noise and was bothered by the busy street below. This is very individual. I grew up in New York City and the location would be quiet by NYC standards.

If you want to truly experience Trieste in the right location and with style then this is the place. A small perfectly built Palace run by staff who care about their guests. There is absolutely everything you need here. I arrived late at night and when I walked out onto the breakfast room the following room found myself saying wow at the view on the stunning Piazza. I choose this hotel because I had always wanted to stay there in Trieste, I did return for a second stay and I would stay there again. You are close to the sea, the historical centre, numerous bars and restaurants, shopping and tourist hotspots. The rooms are lovely, majestically clean. Breakfast are a relaxing experience you do not want to hurry because why would you with that view around you. The bar is the place to be throughout the day and also acts as an informal restaurant throughout the day. Formal is also available but that was not my choice. Rooms were large comfortable and very clean with the best amenities provided. Book your stay, you know you want to!

Certo un alloggio un po' 'freddo'. Non c'è reception e non si comunica con nessuno, il check funziona in automatico con codice che ti consegnano via email. Gli appartamenti sono bene o male tutti uguali, con cucina (molto utile se si sta + giorni) e alcuni con una stanzetta con divanetto oltre alla camera matrimoniale. Bagno bello, doccia grande, ottima pulizia. In pieno centro.

This hostel is amazing. We stayed there for two nights and had a wonderful time. It’s very close to lots of bars and restaurants and you can see the harbor out of some of the rooms. The kitchen facilities are spacious and very clean. And the included breakfast was great. All of the people staying at the hostel were wonderful. Trieste is a great city and this is a great place to stay. The hostel was also very close to public transit (bus) stops so it’s easy to get around if you want to venture out. Definitely note that there is no lift and the hostel is a couple floors up, so pack light! The hostel was also pretty hot and humid, I think they could benefit from some fans. However, I understand that Trieste is a very hot and humid city in the dinner. Marta, who works reception, is so kind and helpful!

Nice hotel inside the port. Ingress in the car is a bit complicated but helped by the videoclip included in the booking mail. The ingress of the hotel could be reported better. A friendly and available concierge. Room at the first floor, wide, clean. Comfortable bathroom and clean. Matches to be updated. No optimal soundproofing of the rooms. Breakfast at the last floor suitable for the hotel level. In the complex, the hotel is a good structure.

This property is nice, styled in the Baroque period. Staff are friendly (Eastern Euro friendly that is... not bad, just different from”Western” friendly), and have been helpful (Jem, Sarah, Maria.) The rooms are very clean and comfortable. I would not describe this property as an American luxury hotel, but it is certainly very nice. The toiletries and towels are skimpy, however sufficient. The breakfast buffet is certainly less in quantity than other hotels in Croatia offer in Rijeka, but the food is GOOD and fresh, there is cerals, scrambled eggs, yogurts, cheeses, breads, meats, juices and HOT coffee that tastes great. You won't be hungry with this buffet. The other reviews that complain are just whiners. The ONLY negative with this property is that the AC in each room (we had 2 rooms) are: noisy, barely cool and do smell musty. We opened the windows since it cools down nicely at night but there are no screens, so the mosquitos come in, so it is a catch 22: be warm or be bitten by bugs. Overall, I would stay here again.

GGuest UserThis hotel is magnificent in so many ways, Before you even walk in the doors, you have to admire its beauty and history. There are 15 stairs before you enter, but someone is there to help you immediately, and the front desk is 5-star. The location is excellent and within walking distance of the waterfront and plenty of restaurants and cafes If you arrive by train, with luggage I recommend taking a taxi. Breakfast was very good, with lots of selections

GGuest UserWe stayed here for a week in June for a friend’s wedding nearby. Great location on the sea front. The location is a few miles outside of Trieste so a taxi is needed to and from the city. Better to have a hire car: the hotel has plenty of parking. The breakfast is well managed and a great choice of delicious food served in the lovely restaurant. We had dinner there once; the food was good. Our room had a balcony with great views, though there is often a lot of traffic and noise from cars and motorcycles. But lovely sea views. The room service and cleaning was quick, unobtrusive and immaculate every time, so a big thank you to housekeeping. Reception team are stars. They coped well with everything we asked (in English as we hardly speak any Italian) and were super helpful, even recovering my mobile phone which I stupidly left in a taxi. Also, every morning the reception and dining room team welcomed us with smiles and greetings. A great hotel, I’d be happy to recommend and to stay here again.

GGuest UserWe liked the hotel a lot, it is a hotel with few rooms, the classic one is fair in size, but everything is very clean and decorated with great taste, very classic, the bathroom was small, it had a shower, but it had everything and everything was in perfect condition condition.
At breakfast, we did not know that the hot dishes had to be ordered, it was not indicated and they did not offer it to us either, but seeing other customers order it, we also did it, except that, everything was very correct and the attention of the employees also.

GGuest UserWe chose this hotel for the location close to the city centre (everything within comfortable walking distance) and were delighted to find it exceeded our expectations. The staff were charming and helpful, the rooms small and simply furnished but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Excellent buffet breakfast with very good coffee and tempting pastries. We will definitely return, this time by car as there is private parking.

I left my luggage early, before check in, and they moved it to my room for me. Very good, reasonably priced restaurant recommendations, helpful staff with everything. Highly recommend.

GGuest UserHotel near the station in an old building of 5 floors with lift .recently paid but too austere.room with safe refrigerator and air conditioning and street view to a conservatory with piano tests continuous,nothing unpleasant by the way. There are no shoes in the bathrooms and tables,in the shower no one to leave the spoon little gel and champagne and too much towels clean shoes.monotonous breakfast in Italian style...packed dish and something of fiber, bad coffee and water juice ...By the way, beds are comfortable but not coats ...to spend a few days isn't bad.

We found this cosy hotel well priced and oh so quiet and certainly a 5 star rating for the price. All the staff spoke excellent English and were unfailingly courteous. There’s a lift that helps if you have heavy luggage to manage. I think we paid around £80 a night for two and their help yourself breakfast came in at less than a fiver each. Brekky was ace - great coffee, juices, hams and cheeses, 3/4 varieties of jams, croissants, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts and I’m sure I’ve left stuff out. The bedroom was well furnished, the shower could get to super hot and the entire place was spic & span clean. It’s pretty central and a 5 or so minute walk to the James Joyce statue in one direction and about the same the other way to the main Trieste train station. But now I must note my gratitude to the folks who work here. This was 5 star priceless. I arrived here weak and ill, discharged from a local Trieste hospital after 40 hours, having been food poisoned on an MSC cruise ship and dispatched from their ship hospital (where I was very well treated) to the hospital. My wife on the other hand was left by MSC to struggle on the dockside as the Armonia sailed away, just as the sun set, with most of our luggage still aboard. That’s a whole other story and we did re - board ship a week later in Venice. The only reason the ship docked in Trieste was high winds in Venice. On early morning arrival here from hospital to check-in we were offered cappuccinos and pastries while our room was prepared and it turned out these were complimentary. They knew we were coming and that I’d been hospitalised. Thereafter they helped us beyond our ability in words to thank them for all their kindnesses. I mean if Italy has an honours system for those who help others these gentle people deserve to be top of the list. One day I needed a doctor to get a fit to travel certificate and the young man at reception put in 14 phone calls for me including waiting on call backs. Over an hour later he achieved what I needed - just pause to think about this - over an hour and he dealt with other calls and guests too. What he did we simply could not have achieved by ourselves. My wife and I were just stunned at this humanity which came with a smile. Then he announced he needed a coffee and promptly proceeded to make all three of us cappuccinos offering fruit and pastries again all on the house. They translated for us, including medical papers, organised many taxi rides including one to Venice and could not have done more. So we can’t recommend here strongly enough. We truly were in great need and they delivered 100% and y’know we’ll never forget the humanity and all we could do was say thank you and we said it a lot.
