Once again a superb couple of day at the Y Talbot at Tregaron in the Ceredigion region in Wales. The rooms were superb and we had been upgraded from two singles or smaller rooms at no extra cost. The rooms were warm, freshly decorated, quiet, had very comfy beds with duvets, extra pillows in the cupboard, good for my aging neck and scrum wrecked shoulders, superb large printed photos of silver birch in a swamp with with side lighting at twilight looked three dimensional, one of the best photos that I have ever seen, a very modern large bathroom with German kit (Geberit?), a shower that was warm within seconds of turning on, altogether excellent. The deal we had with the hotel and WMS (Andrew Venables) was a great and very memorable outing. The food is always excellent, very modestly priced and an absolute pleasure. There is a public bar with real locals and it is reminiscent of home counties pubs 50 years ago. The whole atmosphere is of warmth and friendship and quite different from modern impersonal international hotels. Altogether a real gem.

Just stopped for lunch whilst out for a ride. Lovely and friendly staff and welcoming too. £11.50 for a fish finger sandwich and £10 for a cheese and chutney sandwich we thought was far too expensive although they were very nice. £26 for two sandwiches a coffee and a 1/2 pint of lime and soda!! We will try elsewhere next time for lunch.

Stayed for 2 nights with my son whilst visiting the area. Lovely Welsh welcome. The food and service was excellent. The staff could not have been more accommodating and friendly. Tentative plans for the same weekend away next year. We will not be looking to stay anywhere else but here.

Wow! What an amazing pub! We had booked to visit and sat in the pub as we had our dogs with us. We were met by very friendly staff and it was extremely welcoming. The food was fabulous and did not disappoint! The scotch egg starter was delicious and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her crab. For the mains we had two slow roasted lambs, a veggie dish and the haddock. The food was lovely and the presentation was impeccable. There were four empty plates! We couldn’t leave without having desserts and they were beautiful. We will definitely return

We visited for a meal. The food was wonderful but service awful. Had to find our own reserved table, no waitress service so ordered drinks and food from bar. Asked for desserts and no one came back after leaving the menu. No one asked if we wanted coffee or more drinks Would expect table service as the norm in a restaurant. When we let the waiter know, he wasn’t really interested. In my opinion, staff could do with some direction. Would have spent a lot more money on desserts and drinks, if asked! Note: I rarely post a negative review!

Can't praise this hotel enough, we have stayed here several times and it's service, friendly staff and excellent restaurant has always been top notch. It is lovely old world charm mixed with modern amenities with comfortable rooms, a very friendly public bar used by the locals and excellent food in the restaurant. Tregaron is conveniently situated at the base of the Black mountains and the Brecon Beacons and the whole package is highly recommended.

Such a pleasure to eat here enjoying the freshest of fresh local ingredients transformed into creative and delicious dishes. Our Cardigan Bay crab with lime jelly and chives was simple, unadorned and delicious. Our poached smoked haddock rarebit, nestling on a bed of spinach and tomatoes in a bordelaise sauce, was superb. My coconut and mango sorbet with pineapple carpaccio was delicious- in short, everything was lovely. An unpretentious Cote du Rhone graced our dinner Staff are delightful, ambiance is relaxed and we had a lovely time. Very highly recommended.
