Property Description
Nestled in the Cambrian Mountains in the heart of Tregaron, Y Talbot is a welcoming and award-winning hotel, restaurant and pub full of Welsh charm, roaring fires and some of the best food in the region. Head Chef Dafydd Watkin has cooked with Marco Pierre White and now cooks the food he wants to eat – comforting, confident, and dangerously moreish. His cheesecake? Local legend. We’re proud to be fully accessible, with step-free entrances, a ground-floor accessible bedroom, and thoughtful touches throughout. Families are welcome, dogs are fussed over, and muddy boots are part of the dress code. Our smooth tarmac car park, secure bike storage and drying room make us an ideal stop for motorcyclists and cyclists, while walkers and anglers love the peaceful location, local trails and full Welsh breakfast that follows. Whether you’re here for a quiet break, an outdoor adventure or simply want a good meal with a warm welcome, we promise you’ll leave with a full belly and a smile. Our staff know your name (and your dog’s), and our bar is often the start of stories you’ll retell for years. Real Wales, real food, real hospitality.

This venue was recommended by a local. It’s in a quiet market town in a rural area. It is a non- chain hotel with a bar attached. We went for lunch in the bar that is probably around 300 years old. Very cosy and atmospheric. Advise booking as it quickly filled up ( on a Friday). They serve the same menu in the larger hotel restaurant. There was a decent selection that would cater for most tastes/ dietary requirements ( including vegetarian but not sure about vegan). The crab starter was modest in size but very fresh and tasty. It is of a comparable standard to top notch London brasseries. Not cheap, but very good. The chicken main course was of a very high standard. Cooked to perfection and it was very good quality. The home made chips were great. The green beans were also good. The cost was medium and good value. The chick pea burger was very well done with home made coleslaw and chips. We didn’t have much room for desert but couldn’t resist the great selection. The cheesecake was amazing. It came with home made ice cream that was also great. The service was great and our young chef Dylan Smith did an excellent job and has a very promising career ahead of him.. Highly recommended.

This was a last minute booking and did not disappoint. Staff were so helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, even calling me back from a missed call when I was booking the room. The room was spacious with excellent facilities and spotlessly clean. Dinner in the restaurant was so delicious and the breakfast was fantastic. The location is also fabulous a lovely town to look around and explore. Fabulous.

Lovely hotel, very welcoming when we arrived. Vicky on reception was really nice and friendly. It is a young team but they were all excellent. The food in the restaurant was delicious and so was the breakfast. Would highly recommend this hotel

We booked the hotel for a night away but wanted to spend time on the coast and mid wales. So was a perfect spot. Tracey and the team could not have been more welcoming. We had double and twin room and were of a very high standard with great en-suite. Very much recommend booking for evening meal that we thoroughly enjoyed and with breakfast included all round great experience.

Called in for a quick lunch on a motorcycle trip with a friend. The rare roast beef sandwich was superb, a bowl of crunchy chips n the side made for a great stop. The staff were fantastic, friendly and excellent company. My second visit and definitely not the last.

We called in on our way to visit family for a quick bite as they had raved about it and the menu looked ok, albeit a bit steep. As it was busy and we were in a hurry we decided on beef and horseraddish sandwiches costing £10 a portion, Afer reading the some of the food description on the menu we expected a little bit more than two slices of cheap, supermarket wholemeal bread, butter slapped on and a portion of beef, albeit it was a beautiful cut of meat. Oh and a little bit of green thrown on top of the sandwich. We might be wrong but at that price we expected a little more, maybe a few crisps or tomato and cucumber not a basic thrown together sandwich which was more reminiscent of a cheap tea rooms not the main hotel in a very nice town. We were still hungy when we left and as we felt reluctant to spend more money at this establisment can recommend the spar accross the road for crisps.
