We stayed here for 12 nights and, unfortunately, we left quite disappointed. While the location was truly lovely – close to everything and very charming – the rest of the experience did not live up to our expectations. The room was extremely small, and the bed was very uncomfortable, with springs that made it almost impossible to sleep properly. During our entire stay, no one came to clean the room even once. Towels were changed only once, and we had to take out our own trash and maintain everything ourselves – which felt more like renting a private apartment than staying at an accommodation listed on Booking or TripAdvisor. We also felt that foreign tourists are not particularly welcomed here. Communication was difficult – although we tried, the owners made no effort to speak English, especially the lady, which made us feel excluded and uncomfortable. Her focus seemed to be entirely on money – constantly trying to sell us services we did not ask for or need. When we politely declined, her attitude changed noticeably, and she was clearly upset with us. Moreover, at check-out, she seemed annoyed when we came to pick up our luggage a bit earlier, even though we had left it at reception with prior agreement. We appreciate that this is a family-run place and that the gentleman was kind at times, but overall, we felt unwelcome and overlooked. Hospitality should come with genuine care, not pressure or disinterest.

Trani has a beautiful port/Harbour at its centre and Portadamare B&B is about 30m off it up one of the best little streets that radiate from it. Situated on the two upper floors over a women's clothing boutique (the owners) the rooms are well designed, traditional with a contemporary twist, clean. And very high ceilings and en-suites. The building spans two streets and ours had a stunning view over a square to the rear. But it's best feature is a fantastic roof garden on two levels that looks out over the harbour and cathedral to the sea. Not just any roof garden! It is full of places to relax with bougainvilleas and cacti lining the area. We paid €65 for B&B with breakfast a street away looking out over the harbour. They spoke a little English and made us very welcome. We were going to stay one night but immediately booked 4!!

We went to Trani last month. We arrived at 10pm and the owner or someone from the staff was not there to welcome us. Friends of ours had to pass by earlier to get the keys. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated, but it's just an image. The shower was full of humidity and mold, and water was dripping from the basin. On different sites online it's written that the rooms contain a SafeBox. That's not true!!! There's a paper in the bedroom where it's written that the structure has NO Responsibility, but without a SafeBox...they can't guarantee my safety! The owner was not kind at all and had a great lack of professionalism. He was talking in a very bad and offensive way to his staff in front of us, who were clients. I felt really sorry for the young guy who was working there in the morning. We paid TOO much for what the structured offered us and for the quality of their service.

Just a few meters from the port, this B&B is modern, has large windows, is really beautiful and super comfortable. It's located in the old part of town. You register at a clothing boutique a few meters away. The furnishings are elegant, the towels are wrapped in ribbons, and the bed is comfortable. There is a kitchen and dining table. The room is spacious. Breakfast is served one block away, at a trendy, modern cafe. The breakfast food is good, and as always, the coffee excellent. They even have soy milk. Parking is free except for the summer months. We were there during the Easter week and the room cost only €60 including breakfast for two! We cannot recommend this place highly enough. There are three nice restaurants within one minute of the room.
