This hotel has a lot of potential. The staff are wonderful, great food and beverage and the grounds of the property are absolutely stunning. The rooms, however, are extremely outdated and in some desperate need of some TLC. The shower in my room was extremely weak, I had tears in my linen and the overall condition of the room was just down run down.

Enjoy your stay at Keur Saloum. Service and cuisine at the top! Excursions are numerous but not always possible. Make sure to ask Aliou at the reception beforehand and ask the right questions because the descriptions are brief and the written program is always respected. The prices are not up to date either, so ask beforehand if you don't want a surprise. The room in the boxes is correct without more. Air conditioning and hot water work. No kettle in the room. Damage. Good above average hotel especially in this area. Nice view of the bolongs from the restaurant where suites but not huts.

Waterfront location. Clusters of rondavels and bungalows around central restaurant / bar /pool area ,surrounded by gardens. Better than expected for a 3 star rated . My room was end of a small bungalow block ,at top end, near security gate and was extremely spacious for just me! Lots of sockets, separate areas in bathroom ,toilet ,shower (hurrah, hand held ,perfect for long hair wash )and basin. Massive bed, firm, comfortable. Mosquito net and mosquito mesh over windows .(not needed in Feb) Chair, desk (too far for WiFi to work) and another bedroom with bunk beds!! Perfect family room. The heater worked fine ,spare blanket in cupboard. TV !!!! Care needed entering swimming pool as some of the tiny tiles are loose but ,despite "artistic "shape is big and deep enough for a good swim. Spacious bar/restaurant with view over the delta. Fruit bats residing over the bar! Food. Breakfast pseudo French type (what do locals eat here???) Evening meal , 3 courses ,was very good BUT I asked for adaptation because the only option I would choose was seafood but was served as linguine ,so I had the seafood in the sauce with salad .The other options were massive plates. Everyone was happy with this meal. Fresh juices available if you ask. Stayed just one night as part of 14 day tour and left by motorised pirogue for next hotel..what fun!

We stayed for 5 nights in this hotel and made the best of it. It didn't help that the temperature was nearly 40 degrees every day. The air con in the room was only just about adequate, the bed was a mattress on a concrete base. The shower cubicle had broken tiles underfoot and only a handheld shower. Only one bottle of soap provided in the room. The grounds are really pretty and quite well maintained. The swimming pool will be unusable soon as all the little tiles on the steps are falling off. By the time we left the staff were quite friendly but we had to work at it. The food was basic, a lot of meat and only 2 choices of main course and everything else set. I had a severe bout of food poisoning one night which didn't improve my opinion of the hotel as it was the only place we ate. We did a couple of tours and the bird life is fantastic but the guides really weren't that interested. It was lovely to sit out in the evenings when it had cooled down a bit as the hotel looks over the water and mangroves. When we came to pay, the receptionist was busy chatting on the phone so wasn't concentrating and overcharged us. To her credit she did realise and came to our room in the evening but gave us the over payment in CFA's which was absolutely no use to us as we were leaving Senegal the next morning! Wi fi was pretty poor most of the time. It's a real shame as the hotel has lots of potential but we understood that it had just been sold so hopefully the new owner will rectify matters.

This is a hotel which appears to have had better times. The rooms are not well maintained, with air conditioning which doesn't work properly, no fridge (an essential when the temperature exceeds 40 degrees) and only one power point, strangely located in the bathroom. Only a choice of two courses was offered for lunch and dinner. The wifi had non-existant signals and staff were generally unsmiling. It would not take much to turn this hotel from rather dowdy to something special.

Stayed one night on a tour. Attractive property, but no soundproofing and loud music nearby until midnight. The bungalow was dimly lit. Neither of the two power jacks at the sides of the bed worked. No safe, minifridge or electric kettle. Comfortable bed and pillows. The AC was set at 21°C and the temperature could not be adjusted. In the bathroom, the shower could only be handheld, as the shower head holder was broken. No toiletries provided other than liquid hand soap. Wifi didn't work in the room. Very basic breakfast with bread and jam only; no yogurt, cheese, cereal or fruit. Croissants were brought out later but were locked up and rationed.

We are just back from a holiday which included 4 nights in Keur Saloum and were very sad to leave. Thankfully, we had upgraded to a suite closer to the riverfront, as the standard rooms are a bit pokey for 4 nights. The food was very good, especially for fish-lovers like us. Watching the sunsets, over the river, is a highlight, as they are stunning. As for excursions, the absolute winner is "Seashell Island and the Dormitory of the birds" - make sure a guide explains the history of the former and have your camera/video ready for the latter (only 24 euros per couple, at most). For birdwatchers, you either need to speak some French, or book an English-speaking guide through the tour operator. The wi-fi is erratic, but best in the bar/restaurant area. Oh, and there's a 3.5% charge levied on credit card payments

Excellent hotel, great riverside location. Rondavels TV, aircon, good shower, mosquito nets, wifi. Lovely swimming pool with bar close by. Large restaurant area, excellent evening meal. Attractive outdoor eating areas and places to enjoy the riverside views. Friendly staff. Shops just outside of the hotel selling handicrafts at cheaper prices than inside the hotel.
