The hotel is somewhat dated by today’s standards, however, it is adequate and you get what you pay for. It’s in a great location for the old town, restaurants, bars and shops and a 15 minute walk to the seafront. Rooms are basic and small, but with a decent sized bathroom with bath and over bath shower. There was also a small veranda with a table and two chairs, overlooking the pool area. The room was cleaned, beds made and towels change each day if required and very clean. The pool and lounge area is fairly small, again, adequate, but does not get much sun after the morning as overshadowed by the hotel. The dining room is big enough. Breakfast is the usual fayre, hot buffet, could buffet. The evening meal does not commence until 8pm, which seems late and always a queue at that time? I’m going have to say adequate again for the food, it became repetitive over the 10 days we were there. There was entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings in the bar area, which is not a big area and lack of seats. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and staff were very helpful and polite.

Extremely comfortable beds, the best I've ever found. All the staff were lovely and very efficient. Great bar prices and reasonable priced wine in the restaurant. Good food with plenty of choice. Only negative was hardly any sun on the pool area & it was full of mosquitoes after an overnight downpour

The Neptuna is a lovely hotel, full of charm. The staff made the hotel, from reception to the dining room, bar staff to the cleaners, everyone was so welcoming. The hotel was spotless, as was our room, and the grounds were beautiful. The pool looked inviting but we didn’t have the best weather and it was cold! Other reviews mentioned the lack of sun-beds and I can imagine in high season this may be a problem if poolside is your preference, but there are beaches close by with lifeguards. There was entertainment on a few nights, but the town is just a few minutes walk away full of restaurants and bars if this isn’t your thing. We would have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room for a morning cuppa, but have noticed many hotels no longer have this facility. The beds were comfortable and we slept well, but the walls are thin and you can hear conversations of your neighbours. Breakfast is from 8-10, as is the evening meal so you tend to find long queues from 8pm … but you can go to the bar for a quiet drink until the queue subsides. There is the usual breakfast buffet choice including cooked, continental, fruits and yoghurts but the evening meal is very fish heavy as you’d expect from an old fishing town. As a non fish eater i still had a choice of meats, and there was always the salad bar option. You get dropped off at the bus station and it is approximately an 8-10 minute walk to the hotel (better directions from EasyJet would have been good as we got to the resort in the early hours) but you turn right out of the bus station and walk straight ahead until you can’t go any further, then turn right and the hotel is at the top of a small hill. We loved Tossa, the old walled town is just stunning and the resort is surrounded by ancient forests with some fantastic cliff top walks. Would recommend bringing beach shoes as the beach is a mix of pebble and shingle and can be quite sharp underfoot. If you like the modernity of modern hotel chains, then this probably isn’t the hotel for you, but we loved the unique style and would stay here again.

This hotel has good points and not so good. I will list them pros and cons as I go......... Pros. 1..Rooms clean and maid service every day and clean towels everyday if required. 2.staff very friendly. 3.easy check in 4.Entertaiment 3 nights a week when we visited and very good tbh. 5.Drinks at bar are cheaper than home. Very reasonable. Cons. 1.Hotel is up a narrow short steep hill. Not for the less able. You get dropped at bus station by Jet2 as coach cannot negotiate narrow street. It's a good 10 min walk to hotel. 2.if you are a non smoker. Stay away. This place has no outside space geared for non smokers. They are everywhere. The non smoking rule around the pool, breakfast terrace is not enforced. If you want clean air to breathe stay inside!! As a family of non smokers it was impossible to get away from the constant smell of tabacco everywhere. Just like UK in the 70s. 3.The pool is in adequate for the size of the place. The screen separating the children section needs a major clean. 3.food. Bland. Same every night. 4. Restaurant sorry cafe..... Over run very busy. Queuing....... 5.Dated hotel but appeals to quite a lot of repeat custom. 6.Lots of older guests sitting around pool all day drinking coffee and chain smoking. 7.Pool is mostly in the shade all day. Tossa de mar is overrun. Wall to Wall tourists. Beaches ARE NOT sand. Very fine shingle. Castle is worth a visit. Lovely views. Town has lots of little trinket shops and bakeries. Lots of good restaurants. Town itself very tired and grimey. Hence, would we return. NO CHANCE.

Fantastic small (!), cameral hotel with SPA (nice smell everywhere). Nice green garden with swimmingpool (clean water), fantastic people who work veryyyy hard (cleaning rooms every day). Everythinks like on photos. Hotel is only 5 minutes on foot to the main beach (you go across the center/maisquare with shops, souvenires, restaurants and bars).

Just returned after staying for a week. This is an old fashioned Spanish hotel full of Spanish antiquities. The rooms do feel dated & the turquoise blue bathroom did take you back to 1976 but it was extremely clean & was cleaned every day. The wardrobe is a cupboard & if you have a dress then it can’t fully hang but we found room for everything we had taken. We paid extra for a pool view which was worth it but some rooms which overlook the pool, and ours was one, don’t get any sun on the balcony. You need to take an old fashioned washing line with you as the hooks were there on the wall as no airer is provided. The pool area does not have many sun beds around it. Hence there were the same few guests getting their towels on the same beds early morning which do get the sun. The pool & garden area is in partial shade. The pool is around 10 meters so not a swimmers pool. It didn’t bother us as we went to the beach each day. It is a 5 minute walk through the old town to the beachfront. We did take the half board option as it was only £19 for the week with our Jet2 package & used it occasionally. The food we had in the hotel was very good. Plenty of choice at breakfast. In the evenings it did have a canteen feel. However the BBQ night is held outside on the terrace next to the pool & there was plenty of choice of meat. On the Saturday evening it was sea food night - mussels; large prawns; razor clams; coquina & fresh fish. It was all cooked beautifully & so fresh. Have never been to a hotel which offered this delicious seafood in such plentiful portions. Just help yourself to as much as you want. They also had a Spanish cheese board each night which varied in type & was delicious. The evening meal is 8pm - 10pm. It is busy when it first opens with queues but if you go later around 9pm you will find the queues have disappeared & there is plenty of food on offer as it is replenished all the time. The staff in the restaurant are delightful & helpful but if you go later you will need to catch one of them to take your drinks order as they are so busy clearing. The location of the hotel is great but there is an incline which is steep ( around 90 steps) to get to the front reception. If you have mobility issues then probably not for you as the coach leaves you at the bus station ( roads too narrow) & you will need to walk for 5 minutes with your case & then get up the hill. However, if you can manage then it is a great location as you literally wander straight into the old town full of bars, cafes & restaurants. The nearest supermarket is less than 3 minutes walk. Only thing we paid extra for was the safe - €4:50 a night. There was a fridge in the room but this was locked & you had to pay €3 a night if you wanted to use it. If you want to sample a bit of old fashioned hospitality with charming staff in a good location & don’t mind the 1976 room then you are in for a treat. Would we return - a resounding yes.

Just come back from staying at the Neptuno think it is a typical 3 star hotel but in saying that we enjoyed our stay and thought it was good value for money and thought the staff were all good and friendly, slight hill in getting to the hotel but easy to get into tossa de mar which was really good, went half board and just as well as restaurants in general were a bit dearer.

The Hotel was very good only the food prevented me giving it 5 stars. The food was OK but this wouldn't wouldn't prevent me from returning. The bar, entertainment, spa, pool area reception etc were first class. The Location is very good being close to the town and beach. Even the uphill walk back from the town isn't as bad as many people think you get used to it.
