One of the friendliest and relaxed hotels , we have stayed in, staff and fellow guests. Fantastic views , room comfortable and food very good. Location excellent for ferry to visit other towns , which we did on a daily basis. We have booked to go back next year.

After reading some of the reviews we were a bit hesitant on our upcoming trip but was really surprised. Firstly we got a great deal for a week via TUI probably due to end of season so for the price we paid it was worth it. We didn’t have a lake view room so the negative was we had a twin room with no balcony or view. Definitely book a lakeside view Air con didn’t seem to work so the room did get hot luckily weather was a lot cooler. Shower very powerful. Aside from that the hotel is a great location. There is a bus stop outside that takes you to Riva, 2 ferry ports which go to Tori, limone and Riva so you can travel around. Hotel is authentic Italian so not high end luxury, but lovely, very welcoming and helpful staff. Pool area is lovely and there is also a bar, drinks are more expensive than local bars but that’s the same for most hotels. Beds surprisingly comfy, evening food wasn’t amazing but ok, breakfast a lot better. All in all for the price we were very happy. Maderno is pretty quiet and not much going on in the evening but if you want a base to travel around it’s ideal. Get the car ferry (can go as a passenger) to Tori for a nice meal by the lake & wander around the shops. It leaves every 30 mins. Would also recommend Kokki sushi restaurant in Toscolano.

Whilst this hotel is well located within Maderno (lovely views and literally next door to the ferry port) it left a lot to be desired. The buffet food was sub-standard with some side dishes repeated - we had seen some poor reviews ahead of our trip but tried the evening meal on our first night - food wasn't great plus the large dining area (with some outdoor tables too) had zero atmosphere, which is the same for the bar area too; incidentally drinks are cheaper in the nearby bars, which I guess is typical of hotels everywhere, so not a criticism. The hotel room itself was clean and serviced daily, however the bed and the pillows in our room were very hard and uncomfortable for us, plus our room had a terrible view and was above the kitchen, so plenty of early morning and late evening noise. Outside the pool itself was clean, however the sun loungers have seen better days and most of the towels you would only use to cut up to use as rags. To finish on a positive all of the staff were very efficient and pleasant.

After reading the reviews we were very surprised to find a lovely traditional Italian hotel with the most amazing views. The hotel was in a prim position to catch the ferry and there was a bus stop close by. A nice selection of restaurants are also within walking distance. Hotel restaurant: There wasn’t a large selection but the choices were always very nice and the staff were always very friendly and obliging. Rooms: We had a room on the top floor facing the lake with a balcony and couldn’t have been happier. The bed was firm and comfortable as we like it and the bathroom was spacious with a nice shower with clean towels everyday. My only criticism is that it would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in our room but I think this is the same in most Italian hotels. Over all we had a lovely time at the Milano and would definitely recommend it.

The hotel is in a good location right on the harbour with great views and just yards from bars and restaurants. It is an attractive building externally with a pleasant garden and pool area. The main part of the building, a former villa, is smart and impressive. However the majority of the bedrooms are located in an extension and the corridors here have no natural light and are grey and oppressive. The bedrooms are rather small with rather austere grey decor and no art work. A bit like a prison cell. The rooms and bathroom are clean and well serviced. The beds are decidedly uncomfortable, small and hard; don’t expect a good night’s sleep. The only bedding provided is a sheet and a very flat pillow. Breakfast are reasonably good with a good variety of fresh continental fare plus bacon and eggs and these can be eaten outside in front of the hotel which is pleasant. The evening meals are a disappointment. The menu is limited, repetitive and uninspiring. Guests have to eat in a starkly-lit dining room that has no character. Guests were expressly forbidden to take their food outside as one could at breakfast. There is one choice only for vegetarians. The main courses are kept in heated trays and the food is dry and lukewarm. Although half-board we cut our losses and ate in one of the many al fresco restaurants nearby which were very good value for money.. The pool area is attractive and of a good size. Perhaps a little more supervision would have been helpful to discourage children from yelling and screaming and large family groups hogging the whole pool with their games. The full extent of the garden is not utilised and there was always a lack of loungers made worse by a number of selfish guests who reserved, but did not use the beds for much of the day. We observed one family of four requisition four beds before breakfast and then go out for day to return at 4 o’clock Only thirty loungers for 90 guests. The hotel is on a busy road. The bedrooms are double-glazed but there is significant and almost constant noise from the ubiquitous Italian motor scooter which make ten times the noise of a bus carrying fifty passenger. Be warned also that the roads outside the hotel are swept at 6 in the morning by very noisy vehicles. Many guests had faulty air conditioning, bad news when the temperature was 36C. We had it on good authority that the management were reluctant to get it repaired because of the cost. The hotel owners are rather supercilious and unfriendly and regularly laughed when one voiced a concern. We wouldn’t recommend Hotel Milan and advise others to look elsewhere. Air conditioning that works, pleasant comfortable rooms, better food and less arrogant owners and the hotel would be just perfect.

Stayed here in August and had a lovely time. We had balcony overlooking lake and would really recommend this. There was a festival celebrating a saints day whilst we were there and we watched a fabulous firework display from here. Hotel very clean. Pool area very nice. Room was cleaned every day. Air conditioning worked really well which was good as it was very hot! Ferries were 2 mins walk away. We went to lots of lovely towns by ferry and bus. We even caught the train to Verona. Food was great, fruit salad, croissants, cold meats, eggs, bacon, cheese for breakfast and salad, pasta and choice of two mains for dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

A fab holiday in a stunning location. Hotel exceeded our expectations given the reviews. Tons of choices at meal times and apart from a few things, all very tasty. Deserts were particularly good. Lovely staff. Fresh water swimming on local beaches ( bring water shoes!). Ride the train outside to the waterfalls. Ferry to Torri market on Mondays was amazing. Trip to Malcesine and cable car up Monte Baldi worth doing. Could go on….😃

My wife and I stayed here for a week mid August 2024 and had a great holiday. The pool area is small and chilled but usually there was enough beds to go around, food and drink is good and very reasonably priced from the bar near the pool. Staff were great, room was immaculate and cleaned every day. We upgraded to a superior room with balcony and lake view for very little extra cost. After speaking to some guests that hadn't, it was clearly well worth the extra money. Breakfast was good but no little variation day to day. We could only book half board, we'd have preferred just room and breakfast as we love to eat out at restaurants on holiday. The dinners were good quality and very tasty but again not a great amount of variety, although we still ate there 3 times from 7 so can't have been bad!
