Just returned from an 11 night stay at the TLH Carlton. Had a fantastic time. Although travelling by myself, the hotel staff made me feel welcome and it was great to do my own thing! I usually stay at the Toorak but this year it was full so the Carlton was chosen. I actually enjoyed the change of hotel and I found the staff and hotel were great overall! Torquay and surrounding areas are fantastic, and you’ll always find something to do. There’s also a fantastic daytime activities program if you did need something to do. I booked direct.. benefitted from a free car park and on arrival went to reception to register, I was greeted by a great receptionist who I recognise was in the Toorak for the last few years. I arrived early morning as to avoid morning traffic and started my holiday early on arrival day, but of course I could use the hotel facilities and car park even though I was here before check in time. Room: The room was nicely appointed on the 2nd (top) floor which was quite large and had a super king bed, and a sea view. The room was clean, with biscuits provided alongside Tea & Coffee and a small TV. Bathroom old fashioned but good enough and clean. My only criticism with the room would be the towels are too small. Please provide bigger towels. Also lack of bedside plugs.. fortunately I brought my own extension lead. Restaurant: I opted for dinner bed & breakfast. Each evening the menu had some good choices (although I notice the starters were the same on several days).. there was also the pot in for a supplemental dish if the main choices weren’t for you. Main courses were plentiful with vegetables served alongside the main dish each evening. Breakfast is buffet style help yourself. Disappointingly the orange juice is squash.. despite asking several times for fresh juice they said it isn’t available (and on one occasion I was told it is fresh!). Also no mushrooms at breakfast. Could do with better breakfast sausages too - these ones are cheap! But overall breakfast good enough, great bacon, eggs, croissants on request, fruit salad fresh! The staff in the restaurant are all quite young. Lead by Storm the restaurant manager who is friendly and clearly knows what he’s doing. The only day I had an issue was my 3rd night, the staff seemed to ignore me.. clearing tables around me but not taking my order. I was there for 1hr30 on that evening.. for 1 person in a hotel this is disappointing. Fortunately after speaking with Storm this was rectified on further evenings.. service much more efficient and an enjoyable evening meal. Tom the restaurant supervisor also friendly. Bar: Molly (who I recognise from previous stays in the Toorak) was great. As was the lady in charge. Always friendly and welcoming. Fantastic cocktails were created on my last night.. recommend the red Prosecco fizz! Resort: Great swimming pools, good entertainment (mostly) and a great range of bars and restaurants. The spa is also fantastic, including a fire & ice. Which you

First time at this hotel only booked as weather was good and liked the look of the outdoor pool. On arrival I had to put my car details in as I’d not booked direct I had to pay £10 for parking wasn’t happy about that but price was way more direct than ******* who I booked with. The corridor to rooms are very dated and carpet dirty in lots of places. Had a ground floor which is ideal for me as ive mobility issues, the room dated and awful smell in wardrobe which I couldn’t use the kettle as caked on with lime scale told staff they replaced with new one , booked twin room but the beds were together so we pull them apart, my son had the bottom sheet I took off duvet cover to use and the duvet had a massive stain on it. We did have a good nights sleep. Went to pool really nice and clean didn’t use indoor pool but that looked clean aswell. We had snacks which were served quick and hot nice food. Drinks abit pricey and lager didn’t taste too good. The hotel is up by a hill which was abit too much for me so wouldn’t stay again. We went to their other hotel where Albert is as there was no entertainment on. The Albert bar had a singer on which finished at 10.30pm she was good. Overall enjoyed our stay but cos of location it’s not suitable for me

Just got back the hotel is a little tied looking but we seem beyond that the pool and spa our very good . Rooms were very hot but we had a fan and opened the windows so slept on . The main thing we loved about the hotel was the head chef Mike he was outstanding with my friend daughter as she has allergies and really looked after her credit to the hotel thank you . A little update would be great but facilites were amazing would return x

I had a single room, it was well appointed, the bed was comfortable. I opted for the evening meal both nights, and thought it good value for money. I wasn't so keen on breakfast, because I don't do the full English, and there was only breakfast cereal and toast on offer in the way of a continental breakfast, you could get a croissant, but you had to ask. The hotel is part of a complex of four hotels and a leisure centre, all on the one site, so it is a bit of a rabbit warren. I used the indoor pools, which were good, but I suspect they may get a trifle full in high season. I used the Aztec bar which opens onto a terace. I don't think I ever found the Starlight Room, where there was evening entertainment. It is a short walk to the seafront and other amenities.

We held our annual staff retreat overnight stay here and it was great. The staff were brilliant, from reception booking us all in very efficiently with a huge group of us (50 ish) and very well managed. Hannah in the restaurant was always ready to help and accommodated our changes in timings willingly! Food was brought out quickly and was lovely. Rooms were welcoming and clean with an abundance of tea and coffee! Loved it, the facilities were great to make use of in the evening and early morning and some of us stayed on for Spa treatments afterwards. We were able to have the exclusive use of a large room for all our sessions across the 2 days and everything we needed was provided when we asked. Very recommended as a place to hold a perfect business retreat.

This hotel was absolutely amazing for our staff retreat we all had an amazing time. Staff were brilliant and very friendly food not bad, room clean and fresh. It was really nice all the different parts of the different hotels interlinked together and you can use all bars to get drinks when you needed to.

Very lovely staff, good customer service and nice room. There is parking, which is always important. Swimming pool was enjoyed by the team, delicious breakfast, and beautiful walk by the seafront. Do visit and stay at the Carlton Hotel in Torquay.

Lovely pool, would be great if it was open later! Reminded me of Disneyland. Nice clean room. Good food and huge shower in the en-suite bathroom. Great to have our own conference room for our group. Making me feel Christmassy. Parking was very convenient. Benidorm vibes.
