Location is perfect. Lovely view from breakfast room and can walk to Marina and town within minutes. Plus a very warm welcome. Gorgeous room with a very comfortable bed. All the little touches just made it special from Helen's home made cake to the cute butter dish at breakfast. Peter and Helen have thought of everything to make your stay extra special. The breakfast is wonderful. All freshly cooked with a huge choice. Homemade granola what more could you ask for! Lovely locally sourced produce from eggs to jam and more. Will definately be returning again. Cannot recommend the Somerville highly enough. Thank you Peter and Helen

This was a terrific couple of nights. Two lovely owners, good food, beautifully decorated and elegant hotel out was a pleasure to stay in. With every penny of the price and in close proximity to some terrific restaurants. We couldn't be more complimentary

On arrival we were made very welcome. We have stayed, various hotels in Torquay over the years. None have matched the level and detail of service provided. Everything we needed for an enjoyable stay, was in the room on arrival. That’s a first for a UK venue! Our room was very well appointed, bed pillows all great and very comfortable. Breakfast was an amazing cold buffet, which was followed by an extensive hot menu! We had perfect relaxing break, which was only bettered by the service received from Peter, Helen & Staff. Our new favourite place to stay in Torquay. Many thanks will be back!

Loved the attention to detail at the Somerville - White Company toiletries, a magnifying mirror, decent hairdryer and bottles of water all provided in the room. The breakfasts were excellent and the hotel was a short walk to all the restaurants and bars and the harbour. A great place to stay.

It was our 10th year visiting Summerville hotel and Peter and Helen were amazing at what they do best, looking after people in the best possible way and we are going back in 2025 health being well enough to travel the 400 mile round trip, it's really worth it. We have never felt so welcome and comfortable. Everything was so personalised and thought of, our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and so much choice! We liked the fact everything was walking distance or a short car drive to visit other towns. We will definitely be returning and recommending Somerville to family and friends. Perfect get away for me and hubby. Peter, Helen and Paul went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable, lovely people!

I chose The Somerville because it has private parking, reasonably priced accommodation with breakfast and is a convenient walk to Torquay centre. Hosts Peter and Helen exceeded our expectations. They welcomed us with an offer of some complimentary, home baked lemon cake, which was delicious. The room is clean and well presented. The temperature of the room and duvet were perfect and the mattress comfortable for a restful nights sleep. My only criticism is that the TV in the bedroom is a bit blurry and past its best. The breakfast, having both a good range of continental options and a top notch cooked full English was excellent and made the stay very good value for money. I got my wife’s approval in picking a good place to stay, so I’m happy.

Our go to hotel in Torquay since 2009. Fantastic boutique B&B & for us none better in the area. The owners, Peter & Helen, are amazing hosts who are extremely knowledgeable about the area in what to do, where to eat, etc, & we’ve got to mention our friendly breakfast server Paul. Beautifully appointed deluxe rooms & suites that lack nothing & Helen’s home made free afternoon cake shouldn’t be missed. Myself & my wife Sue just cannot speak highly enough about this hotel. We’ll be back in 2025 for what will be for sure another great time.

Had a lovely weekend in Torquay at the Somerville. The cushions were very comfortable and the lovely decor throughout. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Full English Breakfast and cereals, toast etc. They also have a relaxing area for breakfast and a bar. A short 10 minute walk away from the seafront. Would highly recommend the Somerville.
