The first thing you need to ask is did I get my monies worth and my answer was yes. Having read the reviews before we arrived we did wonder what we had let ourselves in for. But I have to say we had a wonderful weekend. We stayed in rooms 49 & 50 we had amazing sea views, the rooms were clean. If I had anything negative to say it would be looking for a hotel on a busy seafront at night with a black sign with gold writing that is not lit is not easy. Breakfast was advertised everywhere but no prices were shown so we didn't partake. The hotel had a charming appeal with its creaking floorboards, it's unique room numbering which must make sense but not to us. The gentleman who we presumed was the owner (but he didn't introduce himself) can usually be found in the to room as very accommodating assuring us that if the door was locked when we came back just press the intercom he said no matter what the time. We will come back

This is a very average place to stay. Receptionist lady was welcoming and interested in sharing her knowledge of the locality. Price for a twin room was excellent, as was the sea view. The lawned garden overlooks the sea and is a nice place to sit. The room was small and had plenty of natural bright light. Basic facilities in the room, all okay. Soundproofing is poor and bed was uncomfortable. No food - this is okay, Torquay is a very pleasant stroll away and has a variety of food places. Parking is quite tight and one guest was blocked in for several hours on their morning of departure. For a place to get your head down, it's fine. Would not want to have an extended stay here.

We arrived at the hotel slightly early, but the room was ready. The lovely lady at reception was polite and friendly and checked us in early. The room was snug but very clean. Had all the amenities you would expect and a nice hot shower. The only thing I would suggest is to have floor towels for the shower. Very affordable and close to the beach, railway station and restaurants. The hotel also has free parking.

It was an experience that I want to shut out of my mind forever! The whole place felt so uncomfortable. It was seedy (I wouldn’t be surprised if they rent rooms by the hour), chilling (at one time, I wondered if I’d wandered on to the set of Bate’s Motel) and every time I called the manager, he came running out of one of the rooms buttoning up his shirt. Is this the level to which Torquay has sunk? It’s not only put me off this particular hotel for life, but I’m not sure I ever want to stay in Torquay ever again. I’m literally shivering as I write…

Amazing location, great views but super noisy, we had a shocking nights sleep. Not sure who or what is going on in the room above us but the creaky floors and thin ceilings make it so loud in our room. Still walking around at 2am and then back into it at 7am, not restful in the slightest. Other guests were yelling at them to stop the noise also, bit of a circus. Free parking and WiFi are good, but you need sleep on a holiday.

Lovely clean quiet hotel on Torquay seafront, friendly staff only thing missing was they didn’t do breakfast which is a shame because they room ,about 20 mins walk to town and amenities for food but as I was on my own didn’t want venture too far a night so a food option would have been great

We drove to Torquay for a spontaneous weekend away from home. Wanted a central, inexpensive, sea front hotel, with parking. The Waters Edge fit perfectly. A pleasant sea view room, reasonably clean, comfortable bed, heater in addition to central heating, easy parking, and a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Note that the hotel does not do any catering - including breakfast - but does provide a kettle, coffee and biscuits. You need to bring your own water or use tap water. The front door is locked at 23:00 hours so you need to ring the bell to enter after that time.

Really clean, comfortable hotel on the sea front. Nice and quiet surroundings and very close to a beach, Torquay train station, Torre Abbey and the Riviera International Centre. It's about 20 min walk in to town or there are frequent buses in. The shower was nice and hot, bed comfy and warm, tea / coffee making facilities, and there was a lovely view from the room. The manager was easy to find, very helpful and friendly.
