Econo Lodge Wanamaker

We booked a room with a couch, I was told that the only room like that was on the second floor and because I had a pet (which was known at time of booking)and our room would need laminate floors we could only stay on the first floor therefore we would not have a couch. Explained the need for the couch and the length of our stay. Was told no. I saw pictures of rooms with laminate floors that had couches on the website so was a bit confused, but let that be. When getting to the room, I saw that the furniture was very worn and the seating very sparce. The beds creaked and were shaky, but we managed. It was advertised that there was an indoor pool, but apparently it was not functioning. This was not mentioned on the website for this location. I was planning on letting my grandchildren swim and I wanted to hot tub myself. It was advertised to have a hot breakfast. We were lucky to get weak coffee and cold cereal. Small packaged muffins were sometimes available. This is not what I call a hot breakfast. The staff were very pleasant and as helpful as they could be under the conditions of the motel. When we walked our dog, we had to be careful so to not have her walk on broken glass or beer cans. We were almost certain if we explored more we would have found needles, there were grocery carts all around and pretty sure homeless lived around the trash bins. We are from Topeka and back visiting for my grandson's music concert. We knew that area so was surprised to find it in such disarray. You would have thought for the area of town the motel would have been kept up better.

Biggest issue i had was I'm disabled and have difficulty climbing stairs. They gave me a 2nd floor room. No elevator and the would not change me to the first floor. Made no effort to accommodate my disability, the lady just laughed and said it's not bad, i can do it. I literally almost passed out by the time i got my luggage and me to the room. Prepaid the room so i was told no refunds. Second issue they required a credit card to charge a $100 deposit to but i was told it would be refunded upon check out. 2 days later no refund. Called and was told they never charged my card (it's on my card statement), then told me they refunded to the wrong customer, then they told me it was refunded yesterday but it might take a few days to show up. If i had known about the deposit ahead of time I'd never booked a room. Place is run down with peeling paint , linens were stained and dirty looking, the advertised pool and spa wasn't available. Overall about the worst motel experiance I've ever had.

Lobby is very nicely decorated, as are the rooms. Outdoor property (parking lot) is pretty small, the bathroom is a little dirty in nooks and crannies. But overall, it’s decent for the price.

This property was filthy and dirty, as soon as you pull in the parking lot there was people just hanging out and on the inside of the room the sheets had various different stain, dusty and there isn’t a elevator on the property.

Not the best. I was here visiting family and was told I could not have any guests for any reason I got a room that had a pool specifically so my nieces could swim and stay with me for a couple hours and have some room service. I couldn't do any of that. If you're here on business I guess it would be okay it was semi clean. But if you're here for family fun I suggest somewhere else.

Poor stay The pool is permanently closed we were told after asking about it because on website it says they have one. The bed smelled like pee and the bathroom is so small the door almost hits the toilet and hits the shower when halfway open. The tub spout had mold all the way around it and the rub drain did not work because it was just laying in the tub broke.No elevator so don't take in heavy stuff!
