Walking Road Book Courtyard

Walking Road Book Courtyard is a very nice place to stay, it feel to stay at home and not in an hotel and it's very close to the wonderful Longwu Temple.

I rarely write (bad) reviews but this place has consistently been disappointing and I would discourage anyone from staying here. Let’s start with the positive: location right by the monastery, off on a quiet back alley. It’s Tibetan-run, if you care about this. They have a coffee machine. The room is nicely decorated. Check in was smooth. The bad: worst part was the staff. With the exception of the one male staff member, who was really sweet, the rest seemed completely annoyed at any question I would ask. They would laugh about me with their friends or barely look up from the game they were playing on their phone. They lacked knowledge about the area and consulting them mostly proved to be a waste of time. Reception is closed in the morning, so there’s not much use to the fact that they have a coffee machine. The bathroom was dirty and in a really bad shape, the shower mostly just dripping and going from boiling hot to freezing cold. It’s super dark and damp. The mattress is hard as a rock. Soundproofing is non-existent. There was only one other room occupied in the place, directly above me and I would constantly wake up at night when people were stomping down the stairs. It would have taken the smallest amount of consideration from the staff to give me any other room. The place is located at the end of a long dark back alley with no lighting at night. The power was cut in the morning of my departure, making for a fitting ending to my stay there. I generally do not care much about the comfort points I mentioned. It’s a relatively rural part of China, I get it. If the staff would have shown just a little bit more care about their guests, it would’ve been fine.

The hotel is very conveniently located, within a few minutes’ walking distance from the monastery and also accessible on foot from the bus station. We got a room in a side alley off the main building. The room was clean, very spacious and light thanks to large roof windows. The furnishing was modern and cozy at the same time, with large comfortable beds, a small table, armchair and shelf. The bathroom was also spacious and clean, with fresh towels and hot water coming out of the shower  instantly. The staff were friendly, efficient and accommodating, letting us extend our stay for an hour beyond the regular check-out time so we could pack up and use the bathroom again before our bus departed in the early afternoon. We can fully recommend this hotel for a stay in Rebkong/Tongren!

Very nice room, located close to the bus station and the main area. Only problem I had was the lack of AC.

The hotel is very beautifu and the owners very kind.. However, there are some leacks in the room with the glass roof.
