LLammieWorth the price if you’re looking for authentic Japanese food and ryokan experience. Comfy private indoor onsen. The staff are really nice and can communicate in English via good translate. They has a shuttle to Minakami Station when we checked out.

FfrommoonmanTakaragawa Onsen exceeded all expectations. Upon arriving at Jomokogen station, a friendly driver meets you with a sign and drives you comfortably for 25 km. You need to register in advance by sending an email to the hotel. Upon entering, you immediately feel transported to the past: you leave your shoes, choose a yukata robe with an obi, receive socks and special bathing attire, and proceed to your room in a traditional Japanese style (I highly recommend this to fully experience the atmosphere of the place). When you enter the room, you will likely experience a shock, as it feels like you've stepped into an old movie. I recommend a room with a small balcony in the Main building overlooking the river. Check-in is around 3 PM. You can change and head straight to the hot springs. Yes, everyone has been to saunas, steam rooms, and hammams, but the onsen is unlike anything else. It's impossible to convey the emotions. The combination of hot, clear water, pure air, surrounding nature, the rushing river, the play of light on the leaves, the scents, and the silence offers something new and unique. There are three public baths on the premises and one exclusively for women. After bathing, head to the restaurant for dinner, featuring local dishes. I recommend ordering both dinner and breakfast in advance. The food is very delicious and unique. You will sleep on futons, which will be carefully laid out for you while you have dinner. It’s a wonderful experience, and you'll sleep as lightly as a child. I would love to return here to experience that happiness again. One day was not enough.

MminmonzIt was a short walk away from the Minakami Onsen bus stop and the room was clean. Loved the private onset overlooking the river as well. We didn't have breakfast there as the price was a little steep for us (~27 SGD) but there's a nearby bakery and other F&B, so food was not an issue. They provide PJs and a cardigan to put over as well. Staff was nice too.

YYONGCHENIt can be said that it is a very satisfying hotel experience. You can give 151 points out of 150 points. First of all, talk about transportation. When I took the railroad to reach Minakami, I went to Japan to buy a traffic card, and I could n’t contact the hotel. So I went to the sightseeing case opposite the station and asked where to call. The staff inside helped me directly to the hotel for them to pick up. Then inside the hotel, I ordered the room with an open-air bathtub. The space for living alone is very large. I can go to the hot spring whenever I want. Dinner and breakfast are included in the accommodation fee, it can be said that the price is very high. And dinner and breakfast are very rich, guaranteed to be three pounds out. If it is the hot spring in the collective bathroom, it is recommended to go after dinner, because the room is just next to the collective bathroom, so I heard it very clearly. Everyone concentrated on going in the afternoon. Basically, it was a private booking at 9-10pm. But of course there are criticisms and derogations, that is, the sound insulation is a bit inadequate. Of course, the speech in the next room cannot be regarded as the hotel's fault. But overall I am very satisfied with this stay. Highly recommended to go to this small town to experience slow life.

GGuest UserWow this place is INCREDIBLE I have no idea how it doesn't have SO many more reviews. This ryokan has literally the sweetest people, absolutely beautiful onsens, and YUMMY food. The room itself is very spacious and has it's own private view into a garden, and it has it's own A/C unit you can use - it's also very clean and included a full set of teas and snacks. The shared outdoor and indoor onsens are absolutely gorgeous, and overlook mountains in the distance. I went to 10+ onsens in Japan and this was the best hands down - beautiful with those mountain views, and extremely clean. The food was also so delicious, and I felt stuffed after every breakfast and dinner. I super highly recommend this place!

GGuest UserIt's a bathing place, but there is no shower room in the room, so you have to go to the public bath to take a bath. The service is also average, it seems polite, but the corridor is carpeted, and no one is willing to help you with your luggage when you check out, so you can only pull a suitcase cart back to the room to take your luggage.

BBenSo many little things that make this hotel much better than anything else. The way they show you to your room, the way they put your shoes away and bring them back on your departure date, the way dinner and breakfast is waiting for you at your own private table, the way they let couples share an onsen during quiet hours. My point is - you will feel like a VIP here. The staff and always there, taking care of you in subtle ways, but you never feel watched or intruded on. This kind of invisible service - maybe hard for westerners to understand, but it is excellent. You will feel like you are really being understand and looked after. Highly recommend. Best hotel service I've had in japan in 2 years of living here. Highly recommended.
