Hotel Cigarral El Bosque

I wouldn't consider this a 5 star hotel, the views and surroundings are great, but that's about it. The hotel needs a proper renovation, the furniture is outdated and with clear marks of usage, musty and dust covering a lot of areas. The entire place gives a 70s vibe, and not in the good way. The worse bit for me is how poorly sound proofed the rooms are. The corridors' floors are tiled but there's a wide gap between tiles, so when people walk around carrying luggage, it sounds like a freight train just passing outside the room. Not great when that happens early in the morning. The breakfast and restaurant are ok, and most of the staff are nice.

The hotel is god friendly. I don’t understand the point of taking the dog with you in a trip and lock the animal alone in the room. It should be forbidden. Dogs get stressed and will make noises, loud noises. Unbelievably I wasn’t disturb by overnights there.

Toledo City Center
A great and central location for discovering the historic parts of Toledo. Access to Toledo was by high-speed direct train from Madrid (Atocha), which takes about 30-minutes, followed by a leisurely 30-minute walk (mostly uphill!) to the old town. If you've got luggage, I recommend you take a taxi, as dragging your suitcases uphill and across cobbled streets is not much fun. We had booked two nights in the accompanying Riad (hotel), which is situated above the baths. Access to the baths were included with the stay (up to one hour per day) and this was a great extra to the reservation which we took advantage of during our stay. We also paid a supplement for a 25-minute couple's massage (EUR 40) and our hosts were kind enough to book our complementary one-hour bath session immediately after the massage. Whether you pay for access to the peaceful baths or you use the complementary access as part of your Riad stay, 30-minutes into your bath session you are served tea and biscuits, which is a nice touch (and a good way to keep note of the time if you have other things planned). With regards to the Riad stay, the room was very comfortable and calming. We stayed in the deluxe double room (the 'Azahar'). Quite possibly as a result of the building shifting, some of the doors may prove stiff to open and close (notably the door to the balcony and the bathroom in our room), so a little care must be taken as to not damage the door handles and fittings if they don't open/close straight away. The bed was comfortable, though the mattress was a bit tired and on the soft side (and the bed frame appeared braced from the bottom with planks of wood). There is a mini-fridge with some water, beers and fruit juices provided, along with a coffee machine with pods and some teabags. We didn't use the TV or sound speaker, but those are provided if you need them. We paid the supplement for the plentiful breakfast (EUR 10 per person, per day), though you must book well in advance, especially if you are planning to check in late, as the breakfast order needs to be in by a certain time in order to be delivered on the following morning at a specific time slot. The breakfast is cold, but there is quite a lot of it: toast with marmalade or butter, a large selection of fruits in the fruit salad, a large chicken and tomato pastry, a selection of sliced cold meats and cheese, selection of chocolate covered pastries and a large slab of carrot cake, fresh orange juice...! The area is mostly quiet, except for the odd car or motorbike, so we were able to sleep fairly well, especially with with the blackout shutters. Quite a few shops and eateries are available within walking distance (5-10 minutes away), though if you are not used to hill-walking you may find access to/from the Riad a little difficult at first. If you plan to drive to the Riad, there doesn't appear to be parking readily available and there are restrictions in general with regards to car access to Toledo because of th

The hotel is old but I thought it was a quite large room, and the good cleaning service also, with towels and sofas exchange. If you arrive later than 23:00 the hotel is closed but the receptionist opens you without any problem.
