Black Bear Guesthouse

I booked this guesthouse last year in mid 2020 and this week have been told that they want me to cancel my booking as they don't want visitors from the UK due to covid. I'm aware that nearer the time our trip may have to be postponed but to cancel this far ahead is appalling. The UK vaccine rollout is one of the best in the world so far so by Easter we would have been vaccinated so really annoyed that now I'm having to hunt high and low for a replacement hotel for my husbands 50th. After this I would urge uk visitors to look elsewhere as they clearly do not want our business. 😒

My wife and I enjoyed 5 days in beautiful Tofino. Our stay was enhanced with the wonderful accommodations we had booked at the Black Bear Guesthouse. It is situated in a quiet neighbourhood 5 minutes from town and has a great view of the Inlet waters, and yes, we saw a black bear grazing every evening far across the Bay. The one bedroom west coast style suite is beautifully furnished, has a fully equipped plus kitchen and dining area. Fireplace, big screen TV, BBQ, hot tub, excellent shower, all one needs to enjoy a stay in this special area of our country. Our host Bobbi greeted us with a warm welcome and provided excellent information on restaurants, tours, etc. Her pleasant demeanor reflects the whole Tofino experience; relax, enjoy, kick back lifestyle, peaceful. A must do is the 5 minute walk from the Guesthouse to the spectacular Chesterman Beach. Casually stroll along the hard packed sand as the Pacific surf rolls in. Enjoy the competition of a surfer trying to conquer and ride a wave or two. BTW, you’ll want to return in the evening to experience the brilliant colours of the sky as the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean. One last note, if you enjoy cycling, take a ride or two on the hard packed sand of Chesterman beach. Make your choice, rent a bike, or save $45 and borrow one of Bobbi’s cruisers for a memorable ride along the Pacific coastline!

Nice accommodation. Liked how bikes were included and it was a very short easy ride to the beach. House was stalked with everything you need to cook and the hot tub is nice to relax in. The guest house is very close to permanent residents. Found the mornings were quite noisy.

Even during a storm and a power outage, the place remained cosy and warm and the owners checked in with guests to make sure they were safe and had everything they needed.

The property was beautifully furnished and comfortable. Complementary teas and coffees were welcome and toiletries supplied were of premium quality. The property was conveniently located to explore Tofino and was a short walking distance from a beautiful shoreline. The owners wer friendly and helpful. As there are 2 properties on the same site, be careful to check which you have chosen and the facilities associated.
