Let's start with the location: terrific views looking out over fields and mountains. We stayed in a room with a balcony and being able to look out at the mountains was terrific. The hotel is at the top of a hill and is very quiet so you'll definitely get a peaceful night's sleep. But being so remote has it's drawbacks: there are some cafes/restaurants in Todtnauberg which broadly within walking distance. However, there isn't much else going on so we ended up having to drive pretty much everywhere. It is a good base if you want to go hiking or cycling (there is an indoor room to put bikes but would have been nice to have been able to lock the bikes to something in it) but otherwise, expect to do a lot of driving to get anywhere/do anything. Check-in was a strange experience. It's all digital with no person checking you in. You get the key on your phone which can be handy and a hindrance. Check-in is from 2pm but due to the digital check-in, you cannot get your key before 2pm even if the room is ready which is very annoying. The key locks to your room, spa etc are all handled on your phone which means you need to carry your phone with you at all times. Room was simple German decor, clean and spacious. There was a tablet which gave lots of information about the hotel and surroundings although unfortunately, the English language option didn't always translate everything from German. Bathroom was good size with a good shower and large sink. There was a note in the room saying towels would be replaced every 3 days to be eco-friendly (good), but they were not changed once during our 4-night stay and the cleaner only came in after the first night. Breakfast was very nice with a wide range of breads, spreads, teas, juices, scrambled/boiled eggs, cold meets and fruit. Views from the breakfast room overlooking the valley were great. One of the great bonuses of this hotel is its swimming pool and steam room/sauna. We made use of this every day which was great although swimming pool access is restricted in the afternoon on weekdays due to lessons for kids. Staff were very friendly and nice but you barely get to see them as they're generally only around in the morning. It appears the hotel used to do dinner as well, but that seems no longer a thing which is a shame (and also because other restaurants can be far away). Overall, a very nice and pleasant stay in a quiet place, but consider whether the location is for you before booking.
