Rooms on the road side are extremely noisy because of the cars passing by, even with windows closed. Breakfast was not great either - stale bread, canned fruit and generally average quality produce, clearly not what you expect from a hotel in such a nice area. This was quite surprising as, otherwise, the food in the restaurant was quite good, albeit rather limited in terms of choice.

Great Black Forest stay for single traveller
Good value single bed room in top condition and lots of space, with a very good buffet breakfast (if you arrive before 9 - after the choice was limited), a small in-house wellness sauna and access (8 minutes drive or free bus) to partner hotel’s impressive wellness centre (pool, several saunas, steam, plus charged treatments). Food in the atmospherically alpine dining rooms was good, if slightly on the expensive side. Not so good: the website promises a direct access to a lift and alpine run - no information that this had, in fact run out of snow and was closed over a month ago. But the close enough run (Notschrei) was good enough.

One of the best spontaneous decisions I’ve ever made; needed a place to stay during my motorcycle adventure through the Black Forest and this was amazing! The extremely friendly staff, food, property, everything…I wish I had known about this area sooner, I definitely would have made this my normal stop more often.

We arrived after a long hike to find that there had been problems with the booking which had been made by a third party travel agent. Also our luggage had gone elsewhere. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful in sorting out the problems for us and finding our luggage. We also had a lovely meal and nice drinks and the room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is slightly off the trail for hikers (about 3km from the Westweg stage end) but there is a regular bus service

Herzliches, gastfreundliches Team, gemütliches Hotel, wo auch Kinder und Hunde willkommen sind. Wellnessbereich ist wohltuend erholsam und das Essen ist fantastisch. Als Familie, aber auch als Single sehr empfehlenswert und ein Aufenthalt zum Wiederholen.
