R9 Hostel Tochigi Ekimae - Male Only

The first night I was there, I could smell the smoke from the nearby smoking room, each time it was used. The second day, the staff moved me to a room on the other half of the floor, which I very much appreciated. I took a downgrade in bed size, but I could live with that. The room was small but pretty comfortable; there was only one toilet per floor but I only had to wait to use it once; showers were a bit small and had nowhere to hang your towel (aside from in the shower) but the water pressure was great. The TV had wireless headphones, although I couldn't find the HDMI slots as the TV was firmly up against the wall. Tochigi was lovely; I spent a little time one day hiking on the "fat, flat mountain" (I'm not sure what it's actual name is..futo hei yama? 😂); I rode the train into Nikko one day and into Gunma another day and wound up eating at the Sukiya 3 of the 5 days I was there (and conbini, the other days). And there was 110en Pepsi and Mtn. Dew in a nearby vending machine. All in all, good stuff.

We took this place as a precaution to know that visiting Ashikaga Flower Park will be very tiring. And true, to get onboard on the train from Ashikaga was long hard waiting under the scorching hot sun. The location of hostel is just 5 minutes walk from train station. Spacious clean building. And quiet, too. The ladies rooms are in 3rd floor. The sharing shower room and powder (make up/toilet) room are super clean. Pity I didn't take any photo. The shower was good as the water pressure was strong. The rooms' area has a very nice fresh clean smell. I got my room in the corner. It is without lock as the door accordion type just attached by magnetic lock but each will receive locker key (under the room's bed) and access card for safety. As we left very early for train, the staff gave us bread/croissants and jam for our breakfast on the go. If not they provide simple breakfast at the lobby/dining area

Good Experience Overall Easy access to train station, good restaurants and coffee shops are near by, and the bed room booths are comfortable and private. The communal showers are cleaned after each use, so you may have to wait on the convenience of the staff before being able to use the showers.
