To be brutally honest we had no idea what to expect from our visit to Glengorm Castle but as you can see from the various photographs it is a stunning building in the most perfect location and we absolutely loved staying there. Within two hours of being there I was walking around the lawns and a Golden Eagle flew overhead and hovered for a while on the sea winds coming in over the headland. That was worth 5 stars alone! The rooms are very comfortable as was the bed and the towels are large and fluffy, just perfect. The toiletries are first class and you have everything you could possibly need within the wing itself, plus private parking of course. Which to be fair is shared a little with the ground staff but it was actually great to see them doing their thing and looking after the place. Like I said, we didn't know what to expect and I suppose having just come from an outstanding 5 star hotel surrounded by people the whole time to a 5 day self-catering stay in the West Wing of this castle venue it was , of course, completely different from being waited on hand and foot, so took a little adapting to. When we arrived there was no one around so as we were a little early we went to the nearby Glengorm Coffee Shop and had a brilliant lunch there. I would thoroughly recommend the Shepherds Pie. Also the service was great and the staff were lovely. When we went back to the castle there was still no one around except for a lady we could see through a window sitting at a computer. She clearly saw us but remained seated even though it was obvious I was wandering around like a lost sheep as I didn't know where to go. I did think that was a little odd and maybe she could have at least told us where to go. Then I remembered the lady at the coffee shop said that the West Wing was down the side of the building and had its own entrance where we should be able to let ourselves in. We went round and as we got there a lady appeared from the inside the castle to greet us and that was Pam. She was lovely and after a quick show round pretty much left us to it. She explained that the wi-fi was rubbish and to be fair, it was as I couldn't even get into it. Unfortunately, so was 4g which I could only get in one corner of the room or upstairs. So if you are looking for peace and quiet then this is the place to be. I wasn't too bothered by that as it was good to be off the grid for a while but, like most people, we did need to check in with family of course, which we did mostly away from the castle to get a better signal. That said, I can't imagine anyone booking a place like this where the main reason for staying is great TV and internet. Sadly, we didn't see Pam or anyone else for the rest of the week, it would have been nice to maybe have a chat at some point about the castle and its history rather than just read about it. That felt a bit strange but I suppose most people go there for the solitude and want to be left alone. To be fair, Pam did say if you need

We were staying in Tobemory and took the short drive to Glengorm Castle for a walk. It was a beautiful day we walked to the pier, it was muddy so make sure you have walking boots. We stopped off for lunch at the cafe which served lovely home made lunches and cake at a reasonable price.

We were staying nearby in Tobermory for a week and on the Sunday afternoon we drove out past Glengorm Castle on a trip out to Calgary Bay. We stopped only for enough time to take a couple of photos. The cafe and farm shop were still open but due to close within 20 minutes so we didn't shop or eat

Everything about our stay was amazing. We stayed in the apartment inside the castle. It was spacious, luxurious and really special. There was a small turret room on the 3rd floor of the apartment and the views from there in the evening were amazing. It’s a bit of a trek into Tobermory from the castle as the roads are single track roads, but it’s well worth it. I wouldn’t have wanted to stay anywhere else during our visit to the Isle of Mull.

Booked the castle for a March 2020 visit, however COVID closed down UK, so we could not visit. Had to cancel the visit, but got an email that said "I confirm I have cancelled your reservation, we are offering to carry deposits forward to a booking in the future." Tried to book a stay using my deposit, but got "I am afraid I cannot carry forward your deposit as too long has lapsed now." Well, guess I will not be visiting. Seems shortsighted to not credit me for money I spent, since I would have spent a good deal more, but I guess business is good so no need to honor what you say

This is truly one of the top places I have stayed in my life - having traveled the world and been all over! Majestically situated on a hill above the coast facing the Atlantic Ocean and Outer henrides. We arrived on a blistering stormy rainy dark evening to enter the halls and gorgeous rooms of this castle. to be welcomed by a most wlecoming lady - as all the staff were. Wonderful room facing the Atlantic from which we watched the starry night at ight in between the clouds descending. Huge bathroom with bathtub and views outsude .... Wonderful recreation rooms downstairs with paintings, beautiful woog paneling, fireplaces on - and all of 18 different Scotch whiskies to try from!! Everyone joined in and conversations with new people was amazing. Breakfast was supebv - all fresh goods! Orange juice fresh. Best of sausages, black pudding etc etc. This place is a rare retreat.

My friends, the Pooch and I have just had a lovely 3 night break in the Castle Lodge. The beds were lovely, the kitchen had all we needed and though my room was very cold a small electric heater warmed it up quickly enough at bed time. This wasn’t an issue though because we spend most of our time playing games at the kitchen table or reading in the very comfy lounge in front of the wood burning stove. I’m a keen walker and the Pooch needs 3x 1 hour walks a day. In rural areas like this it can be a bit of frustration keeping the dog on the lead all the time but that’s a must here if you want to safely enjoy the sheep, highland cattle and paths that wind in all directions. There was so much beautiful landscape to stimulate and entertain us we didn’t miss WiFi, DVD players or external entertainment. The weather was really mixed but you just need good wellies and a waterproof coat! Inside we had comfort, books and the fire! There was a vegan and a vegetarian in the party so we had brought all our own food with us. Thank goodness we did! This is out of season tourism and nothing, bar a few shops in Tobermory and a wonderful local Premier somewhere on the way to Calgary Bay, was open. If you want to eat out then this isn’t the time to come but if you want a really quiet and relaxed experience it’s perfect. An excellent venue on a beautiful estate in a stunning island.

Had an excellent stay at Glengorm. Warm hospitality. Beautiful rooms, bed linen and bathroom. Great breakfasts. Sad I only discovered this place as it is about to move to self catering only. Fantastic views and grounds to walk. Shall definitely return and recommmend to anyone travelling to Mull.
