The house is located in a rural area. The owner left us a note on the door when he was out, and we entered the room smoothly. It's very cozy inside. If you have a lot of family and friends, I highly recommend renting the independent two-story cabin with three rooms, which is very convenient to live in. I especially like the wood-burning fireplace.

Super nice and cute hotel, we stayed only one night on our way to Cornwall, but the owner is very nice, the room was super clean and well equiped. There is a nice pub next to the hotel that we would have loved to try but we arrived very late. Highly recommend

We stayed in room four. Just brilliant. Really comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean and a few steps down to the pub. The ambiance of this old pub just envelopes you. The owners are very helpful. The food is seasonal and truly delicious. The service was very good. The breakfast was amazing by an open fire. We just loved it and are about to book a second visit.

OMG this place is wonderful. I've worked in hospitality for 30+ years so I vaguely know what I'm talking about and this is how a village pub should be. Located in a stunning part of the world with a lovely 3 hour circular walk from the pub. The pub is so cosy, the food was delicious, the staff brilliant and we stayed in Plum cottage which if they ever want to sell I'd move in straight away. I hope the locals know how lucky they are! Its 3 hours from where I live and I'm already planning how I can go back. Can't praise the whole team enough. So stop reading reviews and go, this place is really special.

Simply delightful. With its charming pub interior, its beautiful garden with gorgeous country views, delicious food from an exciting menu and excellent service, you would be hard pressed to find something to complain about. My thanks to the landlord and staff for a wonderful dining experience.

Stayed for a big family birthday celebration Friday to Sunday and ate here from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime. We had all four rooms which are are above the pub but have their own entrance with a little garden at the front and a lobby area with seating inside (perfect for meeting and having pre-dinner drinks) that all the rooms lead off from. Our room as large with views front and back, large comfortable bed, great tea facilities with fantastic homemade cookies, bathroom with bath and plenty of quality toiletries. Good free wi-fi, we slept very well with no noise from the pub. All the food we had was excellent. The menu changes slightly each day (roasts added on Sunday) and although it is quite expensive the quality is very high and portions great. Two ciders including the excellent Cranbourne Chase real cider on draft! Service was fantastic at all times from all staff who were so helpful and friendly. Breakfast was also brilliant with homemade granola/compote and yogurt followed by various freshly cooked options including full English and smoked salmon. The inn is hidden away down a narrow lane and there are great walks in several directions straight from the door. Highly recommended!

Just returned from the most wonderful stay in Plum Cottage at the Compasses Inn. We've eaten at the Compasses before and loved it and so we decided to return with some friends and stay at Plum Cottage this time. What a treat! The cottage is absolutely stunning with wonderful attention to detail - every little thing has been considered to ensure you have a fantastic stay. It's been decorated with a clean and modern style which beautifully compliments the olde worlde style of the pub. We felt very lucky to be able to step out of the door of the cottage and straight into the pub and then not have to travel after our superb dinner. Our trip was finished off perfectly with a delicious breakfast the following morning. It was an ideal mini-break which we would recommend to anyone looking to treat themselves. Will definitely be going back. Highly recommended.
