A charming building, lovely helpful staff and good quality food sums up our stay . Very central for the town but not a long walk to the coastal path. Atmosphere is relaxed but professional. Useful having a carpark of their own . Breakfast had some lovely choices. Try the avocado, smoked salmon and poached egg!

Words cannot describe how greatful we are for the staff at the Olde Malthouse Inn! We arrived at a prebooked cottage we had been looking forward to this week, to find it in disrepair and not suitable for our wedding week (that is kindly putting it!). We obviously panicked and managed to get through to The Olde Malthouse Inn to see if there were any spare rooms to try and save our wedding. The lady who answered the phone was so kind and caring. She did her upmost to secure us a suitable room, but unfortunately the bridal suit had only just gone. So she helpfully advised that they had an apartment across the road that may be suitable. She showed us to the apartment and we were blown away. It had recently been renovated and it was absolutely stunning. With beautiful views of Tintagel Castle and the location was perfect. Inside was immaculate even though we had just sprung it on them that we needed somewhere to stay. Thankfully it was available for the days we needed it for. The shower was pristine, the bed was so comfortable, the kitchen/ lounge was well equipt with everything you needed right down to a brand new airfryer. It has a cute little dishwasher and brand new oven. We will absolutely be back and will recommend it to all our friends and family who wish to stay in Tintagel. Thank you so much to the lady who helped us! Her name begins with T, I'm afraid so much happened this week that her name has escaped my mind. You saved our wedding!

Been to this restaurant each year we come down to Tintagel camping. Disappointing menu this year unfortunately just nog as good as last year. They’ve tried to fancy things up a bit but it’s just didn’t work for me. ! Hope they put more basic menu back on for next year as this year it’s just over priced and not good value for money in my opinion. Get some steaks on the menu guys, maybe a pasta dish and some lamb !

Don’t know why they want to fix something that wasn’t broken ! We were very unhappy with the menu at this restaurant as it was very limited in choice, having visited several times over the years in our opinion it used to be the best place to eat in Tintagel. Something has changed and needs changing back ! I couldn’t even order a nice steak with a sauce for instance ! No lamb on the menu ! No pasta on the menu ! No beef unless you ordered Chataubriand 24 hours prior, ridiculous for a country pub ! Get the Sirloin on the table for goodness sake ! Nothing mouthwatering or tempting on the menu it was just disappointing and our group of four really struggled to make a choice ! They need to go back to a more traditional menu. This new menu has been over thought ! I know people like change but just be sensible about it. Put some traditional basics on the menu in your style which used to be excellent then there’s something for everyone ! On the positive side service and staff was great but choice and food let it down.

My fiancé and I, family and friends stayed here this May as we got married in Saint Materiana’s church on the top of the cliff at Tintagel. A beautiful church by the way and well worth a visit. As we pretty much took up the whole hotel we got a good deal on the rooms and Kat and Jamie bent over backwards to accommodate us. It would be out of our price range at any other time but being a wedding and right next to the church it was fantastic. On the 2 nights we were there both managers were in attendance at varying times and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without Jamie. He made sure we had everything we needed, which was everything I had forgotten throughout our stay such as the flowers, tin openers, an ironing board etc. Every time we got flustered and ran down to the bar for help, he was on it without a second thought all the way up until my partner got into the wedding car. Calming me down each time I looked like I was going to pass out, looked after the flowers for us as we had to pick them up the day before and just all those little things that normally get missed were attended to. These guys really know how to look after you and their service is impeccable. I would not hesitate to stay there again if I could afford a weekend. As I said it is very pricey but you get what you pay for and they did not disappoint. The breakfast there was very tasty, a decent size and very well presented. We ran out of tea and just as we were going to ask for more, Jamie was there with another pot! Kat was in and out like there was a fire underneath her and nothing was too much bother. Even with lots of “can I have that without that and this with this” etc etc. she was on it and both of them looked like they really enjoy their work. As some other reviews state, yes the rooms are small (bar the garden suite) but at the end of the day the place was built in the 1300s when we were a lot smaller and probably didn’t have king sized beds! For the room they have had to work with it is spot on and I would rather deal with a smaller room than have this place get knocked down and turned into flats (which I believe was going to happen before the current owner stepped in, watch Four in a Bed on Channel 4 catch up) The cleanliness was second to none, and we were very impressed with the array of drinks available in the rooms. The beds were comfy and the showers were powerful but make sure you don’t turn the heat up too much. There’s a car park with one space for each room which is a god send in Tintagel. There’s some lovely Scotch behind the bar and they keep their beer very well. The waiting and bar staff are polite, friendly and helpful. You will more than likely need to book as even though the food is on the pricier side, there’s a reason for that. It’s lovely and cooked by a damn good chef, so again, you really do get what you pay for and their dining spots seem to be very much in demand. As another review pointed out it is a very small bar are

Brilliant! We stayed in the garden room it was so lovely! It had two on suite bedrooms, it was spotlessly clean we had a great nights sleep. There was also everything we needed for our stay. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were perfect! We can’t wait to go back again. I would definitely be recommending this place to my friends and family.

Second time we have visited this establishment and we were not disappointed. The Inn is in a great location with parking behind the property. The sun was shining so we were able to enjoy drinks outside, watching the world drift by. Our room was lovely, with everything we could need, including a very comfy bed. We had an evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant and it was lovely, very well presented very well cooked. All the staff were very friendly, courteous and attentive. We will definitely be back as this is a little gem.

I’m writing this review quite a few months from our visit because it was a true standout. We arrived very late in the evening thanks to London traffic and bad weather. The staff waited up and ensured that we were properly settled in for the night. (Note for my U.S. friends: a cot is baby bed in England, not a third bed that’s appropriate for a teen! It gave us a laugh and my son was fine sleeping on the floor.) The next morning’s breakfast was the best we had in our travels. We also ate dinner at the inn and I’m still thinking about the mussels. It’s clear that the staff take pride in the property. We loved the cosy vibe, sense of history and the excellent location in Tintagel for walking everywhere. Well done!
