We have lost count of the number of times we have stayed. Friends ask why we keep going to the same place. Infact we have tried a couple of other places when Old Hall was full and nothing came close. Also, the welcome we receive, the standard of accommodation and cleanliness, the little touches that keep surprising us and the catering offering (we always book the afternoon tea and at least one evening meal), keep us coming back. As soon as we drive through the gates we know we will have the best and most relaxing time.

This was our third visit to Gil and Philip's beautiful house and, once again, it was wonderful. Their warm welcome, complete attention to detail and 'little treats' make this the perfect home from home. Our stay always seems too short and we are already planning our return in 2025. If you need a break from day to day life in a beautiful part of England - this is the place to go.

I've been visiting Old Hall for a couple of years now and as its such a special place, I took my parents there to celebrate their 60th Wedding anniversary. They absolutely loved it, as I knew they would. We had the most wonderful afternoon tea in the Old Hall itself. Gil decorated the room and made it a magical experience. He even organised personal balloons with my parents names on which they brought home as they were so impressed. It was a very special occasion which will be a memory that we will treasure forever

This was our second stay at Old Hall. We thought our first stay there last year was amazing, but it was surpassed this year. We stayed in the Stable Cottage which we loved for the rustic charm but also with some beautiful modern touches. It was obvious that there had been a lot of thought put into the design and comfort for the guests. Our hosts provide a five-star service, with so many thoughtful touches. They are so knowledgeable on the local area, places to eat and things to do. This year we took advantage of the in-house room dining service and had a fantastic Indian meal along with the afternoon tea, which is just stunning. We also loved seeing all the animals again, and having fresh eggs delivered. Old Hall is a very special place run by special hosts, who dedicate themselves to ensuring their guests are left with such wonderful memories.

This was our first stay at the Old Hall and it will not be our last, our stay was just what the doctor had ordered, relaxation in fine surroundings and great food. Gil’s attention to detail is not just seen in the way the place has been designed but also in his warm personality which made us feel very special. We arrived to welcome drinks and a tour of the grounds. The whole place is charming with beautiful outdoor seating areas to relax and take in the surroundings. Onsite there are a couple of horses, goats and the most colourful hens I’ve ever seen. Our accommodation was faultless. We stayed in the Coach House which was clean, spacious and had a very comfortable bed but it’s the little touches which make you feel looked after. The little cakes left in the kitchen for arrival, or the fresh eggs left on the doorstep in the morning. The Thai food should be tried. It’s the best Thai food my husband and I have eaten. My only disappointment was we hadn’t booked to stay for longer, but we will on our next trip.

I saw Old Hall on the tv show ‘I Escaped to the Country’ and I loved what Gil and Philip created and decided I would book to stay there when I could. It was our friend Lynda’s special big birthday so another friend Paula and I booked it as a surprise for her, we wanted somewhere special to treat her. From the moment we arrived it exceeded our expectations. Gil greeted us with glasses of fizz and such a warm welcome. The whole place is enchanting! We met the donkeys, hens, horses and the dogs. The accommodation is stunning, lots of thought put in to what they have created, lovely little special touches. Absolute comfort and luxury but in a down to earth welcoming way. The garden surroundings are just blissful. We had fresh eggs delivered for breakfast from the hens, wonderful! We ordered the Thai food to eat in and it’s the most delicious Thai food we’ve had, the Thai lady who makes it fresh and delivers is a lovely lady. Gil gave lots of information on places to visit and we were able to walk to one of the pubs on the Sunday for a lovely roast. When we returned Philip lit the fire for us. The 3 of us are lucky enough to have stayed in some gorgeous hotels around the world and we all agreed Old Hall is an incredibly special, lovely place to stay. We had a fabulous time. Gil & Philip are genuinely lovely people and wonderful hosts, nothing is too much trouble, we felt like we’d known them forever they are so easy to chat to. Lynda loved her birthday surprise, so much so we’re going back to stay in October for another special birthday and we are so looking forward to our stay, more delicious Thai food and this time the afternoon tea. We’re looking forward to seeing Gil & Philip again and of course, all the wonderful animal family. What a magical place Old Hall is!

This was our third stay at the beautiful Old Hall. As always we were made very welcome, with a glass of prosecco on arrival. Our dog was so happy to be back there! He was catered for too with a comfortable basket, toys, treats etc. The accommodation is first class, very clean, with everything you could possibly need, comfortable sofas and bed, a selection of books and records. A basket of fresh eggs on our doorstep the first morning from the chickens that live there! We enjoyed an amazing afternoon tea on our last day - delicious home made food and so much of it! A real treat. We've now tried all three accommodations and they were excellent, although I think my favourite is The Coach House. The gardens are lovely with many seating areas and there is a delightful woodland walk in the grounds. I would definitely recommend Old Hall and we will certainly be returning!

Old Hall has it all! from the most beautiful setting and surrounding grounds to having drinks under the pergola and cool doggy woodland walks. You would have to go a long way to better this place. Gil and Philip have created the most special place and they are truly the most perfect hosts, with nothing being too much trouble. We chose to stay in the East Wing which was furnished with great taste. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of bubbly and given a tour of the grounds and met the pygmy goats, donkeys and horse and the hens and their 2 beautiful fox terriers, Humphrey and Hattie. Once inside we found a special welcome pack for our little dog Harry which consisted of a comfy bed with a soft blanket, a toy and ball, poo bags and a bag of treats and for us there were mini homemade Victoria sponges. On our first evening, as we didn't want to cook we had ordered the Thai meal cooked by the lovely Tim and it was delicious! On our last evening we both had an amazing massage by Niddi which was just Heaven. But if you have just one thing you must have the Afternoon Tea. This was no ordinary Afternoon Tea, this was an experience! served by Gil in his drawing room. You must not eat before you go as there is so much on offer! All in all our short break just wasn't long enough! We will definitely be booking our return soon. Many thanks Gil and Phil love Steph, Neil and Harry xx
