Leisure facilities not what they used to be. Outside pool has always been a major pull for us and our extended family for day visits but cracked tiles not the best and everyone using it due to the cold indoor pool. Lovely cafe that once served reasonably priced lunch/snacks such as pizza, chips, coffees and cakes no longer in operation which is a shame it was perfect for after a swim - this was also noted by another patron on entering. This is now a large bare room housing 1 x table tennis, 1 x fussball and other family games on tables and a coffee vending machine which you pay for a reception and get a cup to fill. Not a pleasant space to sit, relax and take in the views like before with friends and family.

Our first visit to Portavadie on a New Year Package. The food was excellent and the service was good. Alastair was a fabulous waiter. The pool experience was wonderful, especially enjoying the outdoor pool at sunset and early in the morning. The only downside was a shortage of lifeguards meaning all pools weren’t open on each visit. We were disappointed in the Hogmanay entertainment in the Marquee. There was a DJ playing dance tunes but for a Hogmanay in Scotland we were expecting a ceilidh or some Scottish music. We returned to our room before ‘The Bells’

We were lucky that the weather was warm at the end of December to get there. The journey was exciting but probably impassable with snow and slippery conditions. You are in a place with great nature! You could clean and repair the standard lodge bathrooms better. Please light the way from the lodge to the restaurant! Dinner was delicious and nice but more enjoyable with music, without dogs, kids and large groups. The best waiter is Alastair. Spa experience for 30 pounds could have a separate dressing room and private hydropool upstairs. Good home away from home if you eliminate some of the drawbacks. Good luck to you!

We had a great time, just wished there was an option to have apartment earlier, even if a charge was on offer to allow us time to settle, as it was an overnight stay, just felt pressure to book time for spa use and restaurant. I’m timed in my job everyday and wanted away from that. Spa was half opened due to one life guard, couldn’t have an actual swim after driving 2h 30 mins. Everything was spotless. Very warm in all areas, friendly staff, food was lovely, setting stunning.

Stayed here on the last night of our campervan trip of the West Coast. Having had mixed weather we were in need of some nice hot showers! Our van plot was £35 for the night with electric hook up and water access right outside the door. This was very similar to the price of other sites we had stayed at during our trip. What made this an extra bargain was the facilities we had access to. Included in the £35 was access to the toilet and shower block. These were lovely and clean, plentiful and warm with nice toiletries (shower gel) provided. The drying room was a really good addition to dry off some of my wet things!! Fantastic views across Loch Fyne from the van! We used the pool area for £12pp. I thought it was worth it. Swimming pool, outdoor heated pool, hot tubs and a sauna all with beautiful views. We had our dog with us and he could not have been made more welcome- some nice little walks nearby for him too!! We had dinner in the restaurant and it was absolutely delicious!!! My partner had fish and chips and I had salmon ploughman’s. Massive portions and sooo tasty. The staff’s were great, special mention to Rory who gave us a takeaway box to take a goody-bag of leftovers back for the dog’s supper (he was also welcome in the restaurant- it was just for later!) Only downsides were that the road in (we drove rather than getting the ferry from Tarbert) was a bit hairy. Single track. But that of course isn’t the fault of the complex. Just might be tricky to get to in winter! Only other observation was that there weren’t many waste bins. Either to clear up after our dog or, to place rubbish from the campervan. We had a lovely time here and would definitely come back and recommend and come back! Thank you!

Beautiful Portavadie continues to deliver a relaxing and comfortable stay with great food and one of the best spa experiences in Scotland. Love the remoteness of this location, provides a real escape from the treadmill of life. A great selection of accommodation to suit all tastes & budgets. Lovely staff that really do try hard to make it a good experience for all.

Luxury apartment #2 was absolutely amazing. On 2 levels overlooking the marina with breathtaking views right down to Arran in the distance. What could be more relaxing than looking out of the expansive glass windows? Bathed in natural light the kitchen/lounge area was THE place to relax in the morning sunshine and again with sunset glow in the hills. With a large outdoor balcony and a sauna, chilling is the name of the game. Comfortable beds, quality bedlinen and toiletries. Fully equipped kitchen if you were to cook. Light, bright and airy! The Spa was awesome with infinity pool, hot tubs and indoor pool/gym. So much to do here if you can be bothered, and if not, just relax in your surroundings. (Local walks/running tracks/bike hire.) New shepherds huts look incredible accommodation if you fancy a glamping experience - super luxe!! Great restaurant with beautiful food, altho breakfast was little underwhelming in terms on portion size/barista coffee being additional cost as well as some of the side orders which should been included in a Scottish breakfast. Afternoon coffee and cake was perfect on arrival. Would we return? Absolutely! Well done Team Portavadie, you make Argyle proud
