The pub is very quirky and lovely. We only had an evening meal staff were lovely but food very average. Unfortunately I think they have employed chefs that think they can do Michelin Star food but fall very below that standard. My meal of Lobster Thermidor was tasteless I struggled to find any lobster. My duck main was tiny as expected and rather bland. I don’t recommend the food at all.

As a local I really want The Bell to be great and, as far as the food was concerned, my husband and I were not disappointed. However, our waiter Patrick wasn’t the most welcoming. Given that we arrived at midday and sat in the outdoor area so that we could relax with a drink and peruse the menu, we were treated badly by Patrick who asked if had booked a table. When we advised we hadn’t he told us he would have to check with the chef if we could be accommodated, and we had to put our relaxation on hold. Given that we were there very sharp after 12 and only one table was taken indoors, this was very unfriendly. I had to query our bill which itemised a £.50 charitable donation but didn’t specify the charity - the 12.5% service charge was also added to this. The Bell could be so much better. The food was lovely but some thought needs to be given to the care of their customers before I consider a return visit.

Lovely overnight experience in a spa lodge. Very quirky decoration but very comfortable. Loved the outdoor spa tub. Good breakfast. Great location if visiting East Sussex. Free parking behind the pub. Would definitely recommend a stay.

Really lovely pub with rooms. Food absolutely delicious, service top notch and rooms/pub itself gorgeous, with quirky and beautiful decor. A great place for a night -or several nights- away. Had a wonderful dinner and then a fabulous cooked breakfast the next day- including things like homemade granola, fresh fruit, croissants and full English breakfast (regular or vegetarian) or eggs hollandaise. Also nice country walks around the area. Highly recommend.

Beautiful pub estetically, nice food, but bad service from male manager with black glasses. Left us feeling like we had done something to annoy him. Carelessly almost threw our receipts rather than handing them, short and unfriendly. Didn't deserve the discrecionary surcharge charges! Really left a bad taste to our otherwise lovely lunch.

Stayed at the Bell Inn this week. What a fabulous place to stay, and what amazing food. From check in - check out ,was so professional and relaxed. Fabulous rooms, the bar area is so cool & unique. Make sure you book a table for dinner! Restaurant is a Castro pub style , close to bar. So you feel more in a bar than a restaurant. However that's not a problem, as the staff and the menu is amazing. You feel your in a smart restaurant as soon as you sit down. A small menu, but each dish is amazing and also has a unique style . The Head Chef creates amazing looking food, and eow it tastes fantastic. Make sure you experience a three course meal, and trust what the staff recommend. You won't be disappointed. Amazing garden with more rooms, just wish it had some outside heating...I enjoyed a fine cigar with a drink ( Rum )from the extensive drinks menu. Just needed a few patio heaters ! On a warm evening it will be a lovely area to relax.
