Diamonds Thudufushi Maldives Resort & SPA

Thudufushi is a charming little island in the south of the Ari Atoll that we have visited six times. It is the perfect blend of understated luxury and authentic Maldivian charm, making it an ideal place to relax and unwind. The atmosphere is pleasantly quiet, with an international mix of guests, many of whom come from Italy and the DACH region. The main languages spoken are Italian and English. The island can be reached by seaplane in about 30 minutes from Malé. With a diameter of about 150 meters, it is easy to explore and can be walked around in a few minutes. Thudufushi is a typical island with lush vegetation. While both sides of the island are lined with beautiful white sandy beaches, the eastern side shows signs of erosion. One of the most interesting aspects is the absence of breakwaters, which helps to preserve the natural beauty of the area. The island is completely surrounded by coral reefs, making it a paradise for diving and snorkeling. The approximately 40 beach bungalows and 25 water villas are decorated in a simple, elegant white, which, together with the turquoise water, creates a harmonious overall picture. The villas blend perfectly with the natural beauty of the island. We had booked a water villa and received an upgrade to a villa with a pool. These are spacious and have a large terrace with a pool and direct access to the sea. Privacy is excellent thanks to the generous distance between the villas. The interior design is high quality and minimalist in white. Signs of wear and tear are visible in some places, but this does not detract from the overall impression. The villas are thoroughly cleaned twice a day. The service at Thudufushi is first class. From the moment we were met at the airport to the staff on the island, we always felt welcome. All our requests were fulfilled with a smile. One particularly impressive moment was when a member of staff ran halfway across the island to tell us that he had spotted a manta ray near an empty villa! The culinary offerings at Thudufushi were one of the highlights of our stay. The all-inclusive package is very generous and includes a wide selection of food and drinks. The quality of the food is always very high. Whether in the main restaurant with its varied buffet or in the restaurant on the water, the ingredients are fresh, the preparation creative and the presentation very appealing. As guests of the water villas, we had access to the elegant water restaurant. The atmosphere there is relaxed and elegant, with a breathtaking view of the turquoise sea. The dishes, which are served à la carte, are excellent and prepared with great care. However, the selection of dishes is somewhat limited compared to the buffet, which can lead to repetition during a longer stay. What a trip. We spent 6 days on Thudufushi in November 2024 celebrating our engagement. From the moment we landed in Male and were taken to the sea plane terminal we were greeted with nothing but the best hospitality. The island itself was amazing. The staff were all super helpful and went above and beyond to make sure our trip was fantastic. We did the snorkelling excursion and sunset fishing which were both great. Would highly recommend the aquarium snorkelling excursion. The over water bungalows were great as provided privacy and we had our own private balcony. But the beach bungalows were equally wonderful. The food was awesome! We ate at both the over water restaurant and standard buffet restaurant and thought the food was just as good at both restaurants. The house reef was amazing. We have been fortunate to travel to the Maldives multiple times but feel Thudufushis house reef was the best we have seen yet. There was turtles and plenty of reef sharks to be seen whilst snorkelling as well as plenty of reef fish. Each snorkel of the different parts of the island was different with more things to see each time. The work the marine biologists are also doing on the island to help regrow and support the reef was admirable and nice to see hopefully some of our money from the trip being spent in this way, so future visitors for years to come can explore this wonderful island and all it had to offer. Only for those who appreciate authentic, warm, and simple things. A little corner of paradise, where a team of university experts from Bicocca is working to protect the sea and its corals. I have spent my life here. I have seen many places, even more luxurious ones, but luxury is not what we need in the Maldives. What we truly seek is peace and relaxation, and here, they are guaranteed. I hope this place remains forever refined yet slightly vintage. The staff is kind and makes you feel pampered and at home. 🥰

Just retourned home from a wonderfull vacation at Thudufushi. We stayed 5 nights in the beach villas and unfortunately only two in the water villas . As experinced travelers and part of tourism industry too , we found that this place is a very good balance enviroment/offered standards/ food and beverage overall a very good match . The water Villa is a " MUST COME BACK" , pity we decided to upgrade too late ! A particular mention to Marco( chef ) and Stella (water) at Water Villa restaurant , simple raw materials trasformed in excellent dishes , and served with the heart ! Compliments !! Thank you for an amazing holiday such a beautiful island with fantastic staff. Special mention to the guys in the water villa restaurant exceptional service , Lanvin who drove the golf buggy a true gentleman thank you to everyone of the staff team for making our holiday super special. The water villas are great and really spacious something that is hard to achieve in the maldives. Snorkeling is amazing. I could not fault this beautiful island I will definitely return.

What an amazing experience. Completely exceeded our expectations. Staff, food, over water bungalow, sports, diving, fishing, sailing, snorkeling - wow!! Paradise! Strangely Italian in ambience - at the time was owned by an Italian family. Just made it more interesting! Felt like a Bond movie. PS - take the island hopper float plane and watch the pilots fly bare foot!!
