I have been to many retreat places and centers, each with their own charm, but Veda5 Kerala is something else. It is not just a place to relax or unwind. It is not trying too hard to sell you peace. It just is. And somehow, just by being here, something inside you softens. From the moment I arrived, I felt it. Maybe it was the air, the way the ocean meets the sky, or the sheer lack of urgency in this place. Maybe it was the people, because it is always the people. The simplicity itself. Everyone here is amazing, from the Ayurvedic team to the security and housekeeping team, from the kitchen staff to the therapists. A special thank you to Tindu, Pranav, Sandra, Dachu, Abey, Mama Ambika, Athira, Shreeshma, Nemi, Thilakan, Thomas, Chef Peter, Jiji and all the Ayurvedic doctors. Also, the chefs deserve a medal. I do not know what magic they put in the food, but I looked forward to every healthy, hearty and deliciously cooked meal like a child waiting for ice cream. And the guests? Incredible. People from all over the world, each on their own journey, all somehow landing in the same place at the same time. We shared meals, laughed at each other’s failed attempts to follow the yoga chants, and spent hours just being. Some of them, I know I will stay in touch with for a long time. I thought I knew what a massage was. I did not. Panchakarma and the Ayurvedic treatments here will rearrange your entire nervous system in the best way possible. The oils, the pressure, the way they just know where to press, pure magic touch and healing. The Ayurvedic doctors take their time to actually understand what your body needs. It is not a one-size-fits-all thing. You are not just another guest passing through. They see you. Master Yoga Ranjit and yoga teacher Kavita? Legends. Ranjit has a way of making you feel deeply connected to yourself, even when you are struggling to touch your toes. Kavita’s Yoga Nidra? Let’s just say I may or may not have passed out so deeply they had to wake me up multiple times. Someone has been teasing me ever since, saying, are you sure you didn’t just book a yoga retreat to catch up on sleep? There is no pressure here. No one is trying to force healing onto you. They do not overdo anything. You just exist, and somehow, that is enough. Healing sneaks up on you. One moment you are just getting an oil massage, the next you are staring at the ocean, feeling like a weight you did not even realize you were carrying has lifted. In just one week, something shifted inside me. I read, I meditated, I laughed, I danced, I cried, I let go. I sat in silence by the sea. I felt seen in a way I did not even know I needed. And I know I am coming back. Longer stays, deeper healing, more time in a place that makes me feel this way. If you are looking for something real, for a place that does not try too hard in wellness but somehow gets everything right, Veda5 Kerala is where you need to be. 🤍
