Due to unforeseen circumstances, our family was unable to follow through with our booking at 'The Dwellington' for two nights Thursday 20th - 21st of April. According to 'The Dwellington's' cancellation policy, us being out of the 24-hour period, we knew we would be charged for our first night regardless. We were happy for this to take place. However, we needed confirmation that we would receive a refund for our second night. In the hope to speak to someone at 'The Dwellington' I rang 6 times on Thursday evening, and 7 times on Friday morning. I was most upset that no one answered their telephone, or took the time to call us back ( although their answering message says that they would call us back). We didn't have a lot of time but decided to go to The Dwellington in person. The crazy one-way street systems in Wellington are mind-blowing, and frustrating to say the least. After the trouble we went through to get to the Dwellington the receptionist told us we had been E-mailed to inform us we had received a refund for our second night. If you had spent 5 minutes giving us a phone call (the same amount of time it may take for an E-male) I would have appreciated this, and you would have saved us a lot of trouble and stress.

The room was tidy and clean, located at the end of the hallway (quiet - Bonus point!). The staff was friendly as well. The Hotel is in a perfect location: close to the Beehive and in walking distance to the CBD, Te Papa, Cable Car etc. Can recommend!

Service was ok, and I arrived at 15.45pm only to be told that my room wasn't ready and waited over 35mins for my room key. I also made this booking online which included breakfast and paid abit extra when I asked staff about this when I checked in they said yes you can get your breakfast by restaurant and the next morning I wanted to double check again with staff only to be told that nope breakfast wasn't included in my booking but my receipt said that it was so no breakfast for me I had brought my breakfast elsewhere. I'm highly likely not going to go back

The location is a 5-minute walk from the Prime Minister's Office. It is on a large slope. Self-driving parking uphill and starting side parking are all technical activities. The hall and room can only be said to be ok, after all, it is not a fashionable hotel, although some desks and sofas have a light luxury style (pay attention to professional habits). Breakfast order + buffet, my evaluation is only passable, fried rice is okay. I met a Taiwanese girl in the service, and she was very enthusiastic. Take the initiative to bring us water, after all, there is no water in the room. Taxi is easy to take, and many restaurants close early on Labor Day. But I learned the local Meituan of Uber eats. Compared with the domestic advanced driving and running, it is not an electric motorcycle. After all, there are fewer people running. Opposite the parking lot is public. The hotel opposite has a swimming pool.

We stayed in a very spacious studio apartment on the 7th floor. With a view down Lambton Quay (road) . The bedroom could be partitioned off if one wanted to go to bed and one stay up. Most of the time we had the partition open which made the room much bigger. Large bathroom with bath/shower. Kitchenette was adequate, with a dining table in the lounge. Very close to bus stops, with lots of routes including the airport bus ($4.50). Restaurants/bars/shops close to hotel. Staff very helpful. Wifi was being upgraded while we stayed. Good value for money. Only area that let the hotel down was the entrance on Lambton Quay and lifts which were shabby. Reception on level 3 which is the Terrace (road) entrance. Would definitely stay again when in Wellington.
