Eshott Hall is beautiful and picturesque. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, and the bar and other rooms are extremely lovely to spend some time in. But what really makes Eshott Hall special are the folk who work there. We had such a warm welcome and were looked after so well during the weekend, that we'll definitely be back. Everyone was so friendly, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. If you've never visited and fancy a very relaxed home from home, I absolutely recommend staying here.

We enjoyed our stay at Eshott When we visited for the second time in November, Our room was very comfortable light and airy with plenty of space and a great bathroom. Our dinner was very good and the breakfast was excellent . The staff were so helpful and friendly. The garden and grounds are well kept with a large walled garden interestedly planted,

Most guests at Eshott Hall may not recognise the comments below because they were in a different room. First impressions are the last impressions and these are ours of a "luxury" room at Eshott Hall. 1. Part of the curtains were not attached to the curtain rail and were just left hanging down. 2. Cobwebs around the window frame and the curtain rail, clearly visible. 3.Seat of the stool in the room heavily soiled and not fit for purpose. 4. Taps in the bathroom covered in verdigris and needed a good clean and so too the area around the plughole. 5. Carpet stained and dirty. (Another guest commented that the carpet in their room needed to be replaced.) 6. There was debris on the carpet, which was clearly visible, when we arrived and still there when we left. 7. Furniture very shabby. We could go on. The room looked totally neglected and uncared for. Eshott Hall is rated as 4*. We have stayed in 3* rated properties of a similar age, where their standard of cleanliness and attention to detail in both the guest rooms and public areas is far superior to that of Eshott Hall. We would not rate Eshott Hall as a 4* property. Perhaps the management is satisfied with these standards in their so called "luxury" rooms. All rooms should be to the same high standard no matter what their category. The evening meal was the highlight of our stay. Needless to say we will not be returning. This house could be made into something really special if someone took the time and care to remedy all the shortfalls.

Pros: Location , grounds & interior were beautiful. Guy working at the bar was extremely helpful & very professional. Food was very good. Cons: Attention to details in our room; bedside lamp not working, curtain hanging off hooks , tissue box empty, towel rail not working, damp towels not changed. A couple of long blonde hairs found in breakfast . For the price of our stay we expected a higher standard .

Just stayed for one night with dinner bed and breakfast Evening meal was fantastic, choice of both menus, small supplements for certain extras, no wonder they've won so many culinary awards Room was opulant and huge!!..clean and tidy, staff excellent...what more do you need

Arrived at 8.15pm with 3 work colleagues after a 4.5hr drive from north of Edinburgh only to be told that the restaurant was closed even for a sandwich as the chef had cleaned down. Use the Just Eat app off of your phone and order a Pizza !! Cooked breakfast was of poor quality Room too hot, bedroom door couldn't be locked Generally poor attitude from the staff who just couldn't careless Needless to say I wont be staying at the Eshott Hall again

Attended the wedding of our friends - what a beautiful place! Everything was good, the staff were attentive, the surroundings were beautiful, our room was gorgeous and my goodness - the food! wow! the food was so delicious!

After been told off by the receptionist for turning up before 4pm ( our fault for not reading the paperwork), reception staff need to be a little more friendly/ helpful.we finally checked in ( after 4pm !), to be put in a house / room at the back of the hotel ( not what we expected and not ideal with mobility issues- bad lighting along the road . Room ok , clean , but curtains didn’t fit the windows . Carpet rather grubby with carpet moths slowly chomping thro the carpet. Meal on the evening was quite nice - but breakfast wasn’t. All served Luke warm .Part of the breakfast ( toast , cereal juice etc) was located in the main entrance hall. All in all rather disappointing - will not return or indeed will not recommend.
