I cannot give enough superlatives. The room was spacious and comfy, the location grand and Amanda and family were friendly and helpful! Breakfast made to order was sooo good! A five minute walk to the train and took maybe 20 minutes by train to get to York!

BREAKFAST - Amanda is very accommodating! She agreed in advance with me that she'd have oat based breakfasts (for those who are reading this to look at healthy breakfast availability!). Porridge was on the menu but I had granola, yoghurt and berries 🍓 she also made sure she had wholemeal toast available for me 🙂 ROOM - I was in Ryedale which was the first floor room. Lovely big room, so much space! And it was dual aspect, front and back, so tonnes of natural day light! 🙂 Very powerful shower too 🚿

We stayed in the Bed & Breakfast rooms for a 2-night stay. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left Amanda was a brilliant host making us all welcome. The rooms were spotless, the bed was comfy, and the bathroom was modern and clean with a power shower. The breakfast was amazing. There is free Wi-Fi and a bonus of off-street private parking. We could not fault the accommodation at all and will certainly be returning. Thirsk town centre is a typical market town. Fish and chips from White Rose Cafe were delicious. The only problem we had was with the taxi service. It was abysmal. After trying unsuccessfully to get through to 4 numbers we finally got through to "Ron's Taxis: This man was fantastic and sorted us with taxis to and from our visit to Thirsk racecourse the following day. I would definitely recommend the Poplars. It was amazing.

The rooms were excellent, we stayed in the granary building, set over 2 floors, beautiful views of the surrounding fields, kitchen well stocked with all the utensils/pots/pans etc. Good location, a couple of minutes drive into Thirsk, we were there for a wedding and the owner helped organise taxis.

We enjoyed our stay at The Poplars. Amanda served a delicious and hearty breakfast; she was also very helpful in recommending places to eat dinner locally. We felt this was a convenient location for seeing York, Thirsk, the Dales and Moors National Parks. Our room was comfortable and well-kept.

We stayed here in Ryedale room for 3 nights. The location was great & our room was lovely, clean, spacious & quiet. Our room had its own private entrance. Amanda is a wonderful cook - we had a full Yorkshire breakfast which was absolutely delicious!

Stayed in the Granary Cottage for 2 nights. Very clean, decor of a high standard and very well equipped. However, on arrival there was no one to meets us or show us where to go. Half an hour, and 5/6 phone calls later the owner called from France to say the cottage was open and ready for us to help ourselves. I’m not in the habit of entering property uninvited and a quick message from Amanda explaining would have saved all the hassle. A lovely place but very impersonal. The TV didn’t work either.

My wife and I went for a three day break we found that the Poplars was a wonderful place to stay with good off-road parking. The room was exceptionally clean well equipped with a large comfortable bed. We did not initially book breakfast however we did decide to have breakfast two mornings of our stay and what a lovely breakfast it was, it was cooked to perfection with quality ingredients and some of the best Black pudding I have tasted. It is a bit of a walk into Thirsk but its flat we are both in our sixty's and we walked there and back ok however if you are not up to it Buses and Taxis are plentiful. The Train station is close, and you have two pubs within easy walking distance that do food. To summarise I cannot praise Amanda's diligence enough (Thank you Amanda) we shall go again.
