Staff were all very helpful. Firstly with trying to get the ev charger working. Took a while but got there. Did rather regret it afterwards as it was the most expensive electricity I've ever bought at 89p.
Hotel very tricky to find at moment. Instructions to follow satnav didn't work.
A nice looking downstairs unfortunately not replicated in bedroom. Very tired and in need of a refurb. Window paint feeling and black mould.
Shower finicky with little pressure.
Nice comfy bed though. And room spacious.

Utterly fantastic!! A very welcoming place with a very friendly family who are all lovely! The owners wife is also the chef and we ate the most superb curries in the restaurant. Would thoroughly recommend anyone who is anywhere near to go and eat and/or stay. Genuinely disappointed we live so far away…!

Clean room, comfy bed.
Interesting old property.
Bar doesn't open in the week so quite and would have to go out for food, but plenty of choice nearby, walking distance.
Shower was nice and warm.
Facilities were good, tea and coffee, complimentary soap, supplied towels.

Had a two night stay . Paid £100 a night without breakfast. Bar area very nicely decorated. Waited a hour or so for a table , owner and family very friendly. Only problem was our ceiling was very water marked especially near door.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. From the moment I arrived, Gez and Rosy Chatel redefined what hospitality means. They don’t just welcome you into their hotel—they welcome you into their family. Gez’s warm, genuine personality makes you feel at ease instantly, while Rosy’s cooking is nothing short of culinary magic. I’m not exaggerating when I say her food is some of the best I’ve ever had—beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and served with love. Every meal felt like it belonged in a fine dining restaurant, yet carried the warmth and comfort of a home-cooked feast. They go above and beyond in every possible way. Whether it’s sharing stories, introducing you to locals, or making sure you’re comfortable in every detail, they treat you as if you’re the most important guest they’ve ever had. In my time here, I’ve laughed, eaten like royalty, and felt truly cared for. It’s rare to find people this genuine in life, let alone in hospitality. I’ve stayed in many places, but I can say without hesitation that I wouldn’t pick another hotel over this one. Gez and Rosy have set the bar so high, I doubt anyone else could reach it. My time here has been above and beyond what I could have hoped for, and I’ll carry these memories with me long after I leave. If you’re lucky enough to book a stay here, you’re not just getting a room—you’re getting an experience, a family, and a piece of your heart left behind when you check out. Thank you, Gez and Rosy, for making this stay unforgettable

What a brilliant night at The Thomas Paine Hotel for the Indian Festival! Fantastic entertainment, incredible food, and some truly wonderful company — all set in the beautiful surroundings of a charming hotel where we also stayed the night. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the evening so special — Especially the owners of the hotel Gez, Rosy & Saanchi and the whole team who put together such a vibrant, memorable event, and it was a real pleasure to attend. It’s safe to say this one is firmly on the social calendar for next year and I have already booked my room.

We recently had our wedding at The Thomas Paine Hotel, and it was truly a dream come true. From the moment we toured the space to the last dance of the night, everything exceeded our expectations. The Venue: The venue is absolutely stunning—perfectly maintained, with beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. Everything was picture-perfect for both the ceremony and the reception. The Staff: The staff deserves special praise. They were professional, warm, and incredibly organised. Everyone was calm, responsive, and always one step ahead. The entire team made us feel relaxed and taken care of throughout the entire planning process and on the big day itself. They truly make you feel part of the family from the friendly conversations to checking make sure everything is okay. Catering/Service: The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was smooth, efficient, and friendly—guests were never left waiting or wondering. Bartenders were fun and attentive, keeping the energy high all night. Overall: We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re considering The Thomas Paine Hotel for your wedding or event, don’t hesitate, the team will go above and beyond to make your day unforgettable.
