Overall we enjoyed our 2-day stay at the Radisson Grenada. The front desk and staff was very friendly. They stored our luggage before check-in no problem, so we could go explore until our room was ready. The room was lovely on the 2nd level over looking the garden, one of the pools and the even had an ocean view. The bathroom is a bit dated and could use a major renovation. When we first came into our room the fridge was empty, but turned on and had leaked water all over the floor. (A big chunk of ice had been melting in the back of the fridge). Not a problem, we used the bathroom floor mat to dry it. The tv worked for watching cable channels, but the Google Chromecast set-up did not work (and this isn't user error, I've used this many times in other hotels just fine). a/c worked just fine and the balcony was a lovely feature with beautiful view.
The main big pool and grounds with the waterfalls are beautiful and we much enjoyed a bit of time there. The pool bar was okay, the service there was quite slow and inattentive.
We had one dinner meal during our stay there, which was okay, but we have to say the breakfast was terrible. Most items were inedible and the selection was very strange. They tried to put out a mix of continental and Caribbean breakfast, but most of the dishes were inedible. It is a buffet style breakfast, however, you can not go up and grab your own food, there are about 4 members of staff that have to plate your food from the buffet onto your plate. It's a bit awkward and gets jammed up as soon as there are more people having breakfast. The chef needs to go over the books what "French Toast" is. Yes, French Toast is made with day-old, dryer bread, but that bread needs to be soaked through in a milk and egg mix. Well, the chef just took really dry bread, coated it with a bit of egg wash and cooked it on either side. So while there was egg batter on the outside of the toast, the toast itself was completely dry and inedible. We tried all the meals from the breakfast buffet during our stay and the only item that was relatively well done, was the salt fish. The plantains were dripping in grease, the sausages tasted off, the scrambled eggs were hideous and the pancakes tasted like cardboard. The selection of cold things was also strange. There was only one choice of cereal, so you're out of look if you are allergic or have a dislike to one of the ingredients. The selection of cold meat and cheese was meager (and again you cannot take it yourself from the buffet), the fruits weren't ripe and they only offered one choice of yoghurt, which "peach" during our stay. Usually in a hotel there is at least plain yoghurt and a neutral cereal with oats available. It's just disappointing and not acceptable for the price you pay for a room and the hotel class they claim themselves to be.
We would stay in this hotel again, due to its location, the clean rooms and nicely decorated rooms, the beautiful grounds and overall friendly staff. Luckily there are many restaurants around the area even within a just 10 minute walking distance. And there is a small independent restaurant just on the side of the hotel property called "Beachside Bistro Grenada", which offers a decent dining experience.
