The Big Island (Hawaii island) Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park Hotels
This gem of a guesthouse has been built to accommodate occasional visitors in the plantation days. It is totally preserved in its originality, the floors, the trims, the moldings on the high ceilings, the sash windows on weights, everything still authentic original. Even some of the old window panes with the hand made wavy glass have made it through to this day.Our property is all about Big Island history. As soon as you enter the Royal Palm lined drive to the former Ola’a Sugar Plantation estate, you will feel the ambiance of times gone by.The buildings are authentic Victorian and have been tastefully restored to their old glory and equipped with all modern amenities. They are surrounded by about ten acres of luscious botanical gardens, meadows, orchards, and jungle, preserving its unique ambiance.Three aspects make this property unique:Location, ambiance and history. There are no similar places on the Island to compare it to.Location:Keaau, on the east of the Big Island, meaning the area of water springs. We are conveniently urban, yet secluded within our privacy. We are on safe county water and dependable grid electricity and WiFi.We are always on paved roads and only a minute away from the next supermarket and restaurants in Keaau shopping center. We are 10 to 15 minutes from downtown Hilo and central to all visitor sites, most of them less than an hour away. We are in proximity to Hawaii Volcano National Park, and the coastal waterfalls.Ambiance: In the midst of our botanical exuberance and wildlife you connect with the charm of a simpler life, as it used to be on the Island a century ago. A rare opportunity to experience country living as its best.History:The land, originally owned by King William Charles Lunalilo (1835-1874), was purchased by the Shipman family. In 1902 the first manager of the Ola sugar plantation planted the Banyan tree near the cottage. It is now considered the biggest on the Island. The Main House, nineteenth century Queen Anne architecture, has been used in many photography sessions and for movies, recordings, magazines, books and commercials.A 1950’s photo is shown in the book “The Hawaiians”. Films recorded on the property include: Four Frightened People (Claudette Colbert)-Diamond Head (Charlton Heston)-The Hawaiians (Charlton Heston - Geraldine Chaplin)-Hawaii Five O-Hawaiian Eye-Big Hawaii (Cliff Potts)-Danger In Paradise (Cliff Potts & Ina Bolin). After the plantation closed and sold the residence in the early 1980’s, it fell in disrepair until the present owners acquired it and worked for several years to restore it to its original beauty. But the history dates back beyond the plantation era to ancient Hawaiian legends and fairy tales. The most known is of the mythical Princess La'ieikawaii, hiding in the place known as Paliuli. The Mango forest on the south-west corner of the property still holds the remains of an ancient hei'au. The Hawaiian movie Choreographer Henry Pa, recounts in an interview: "When I was involved in the movie, "Bird of Paradise," my grandmother Grace Kealiiaua Pa told me to go to the island of Hawaiʻi, to Olaʻa, at Keʻeau. I was to sit beneath a certain tree, which was the birthplace of my grandfather and his former home. There I was to gaze out at the water and look for two stones, one of which was Hiʻiaka-ika-poli-o-Pele, and the other was Lohiau. I was to meditate on the task before me. By doing this, I would receive the strength and inspiration that I needed to choreograph the dance scene for this movie."About pets:No pets allowed.About checkOut:Check out before 11:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.There are mostly safety concerns.About customRules:Please avoid anything that creates mildew, like wet hair on the pillows and wet things in enclosed spaces. GGuest UserThe ocean view was very smoothing and relaxing. The kids loved the giant pool and the water slide and we spent a lot of time there! The pool food was better than I expected. The breakfast place was also nice. Close to many activities. We went to the open market right in front of the hotel. We did the kayaking tour that included an exciting cliff jump, and the most incredible night time manta ray experience, all short distances from the hotel. Short drive to many tourist spots. Would definitely want to come back again sometime.

AAnonymous UserThe room facilities and scenery can be said to be top-notch in Hawaii, but the hotel service is incredibly bad. The front desk staff was arrogant and rude (I don't know if it was racial discrimination). They did not inform me of the credit card authorization when I checked in, and charged 2 authorizations of 400 and 700 US dollars. The money has not been recovered yet. When I checked out, I needed a shuttle bus to go to the villa to pick up my luggage. I called for 25 minutes but no one answered. Later, I called the room service staff to call the shuttle bus. There are 2 restaurants in the hotel. The service staff in the light meal restaurant is relatively friendly, while the service staff in the formal restaurant is very rude. You have to pour water/wine by yourself. After the appetizers, the champagne was not served. I suggest that babies who can't stand being bullied should not go there, because they will really be bullied by the staff inside. Also, the snacks in the room minibar are expired.

GGuest UserThis is a true outdoorsmen experience. I stayed in the Monkeypod tent. It was very comfortable. I had a very nice Queen bed with plenty of pillows. The tent came with a folding table, iron racks for hanging clothes, a lamp, multi-plug power strip, and WIFI. The porch had one chair and a table, and the nights were very quiet. The property shares a kitchen with on the needed appliances and dishware available as well as a porch with tables and chairs to watch the sunset. There are two showers, one in door with solar heating and one outdoors (still private) with gas heating. The property has a protected gate with code. Overall, a very good experience and I would stay here again.

GGuest UserThe Condo was in good condition, could’ve used new carpet and paint touch up but despite that very clean!!! The size the condo was perfect and we could see the ocean from the patio doors. The kitchen was well serviced with clean nice dishes. The washer/dryer was a fabulous feature we used!! The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Parking was including and easy to find. Condo was close to Kona Inn shopping and the bypass road used for Hwy 11. Would definitely recommend staying there!!! The guest book in the condo to write your own entry was so fun to read what other guests had done!!

JJordan NicholasNestled along the serene shores of Waikoloa, the Hilton Waikoloa Village is a haven of luxury and tranquility. Our recent stay at this breathtaking resort was nothing short of extraordinary, thanks to the impeccable service, stunning accommodations, and picturesque surroundings. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that instantly made us feel at home. The check-in process was smooth, and to our delight, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a Royal Suite in the palace tower. Stepping into our suite, we were greeted by spacious elegance and panoramic views of the beach and lagoon. Every detail, from the plush furnishings to the tasteful decor, exuded luxury and comfort. The grounds of the Hilton Waikoloa Village are a true testament to paradise. Meticulously maintained gardens, winding pathways, and cascading waterfalls create an oasis of serenity amidst the lush landscape. We spent hours exploring the resort, discovering hidden gems around every corner. Whether lounging by the pool, strolling along the sandy shores, or indulging in a rejuvenating spa treatment, every moment was a blissful escape from reality. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the friendly greetings to the attentive care, every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Whether offering recommendations for dining or arranging memorable excursions, their genuine hospitality made our experience truly unforgettable. As seasoned travelers who have explored destinations around the globe, we can confidently say that our time at the Hilton Waikoloa Village surpassed all expectations. It was more than just a vacation – it was a transformative experience that left us longing to return. If you're searching for paradise on earth, look no further than this remarkable resort.

AAnonymous UserThis hotel is definitely good in Hilo, Big Island, with beautiful scenery and a free botanical garden next to it where you can see the Hawaiian state bird, the nēnē goose. It is about a 10-minute drive from the airport. The interior decoration of the room is relatively ordinary, with large white walls. There is only a small outdoor swimming pool. The sea view room I booked does face the sea with all windows. It is very beautiful when I open the curtains in the morning. There is another thunder point. This hotel does not clean the room by default for consecutive stays. You need to make an appointment for cleaning in advance or tell them that you need to clean every day when you check in. Otherwise, their room service will not enter the room! The breakfast I booked on Ctrip included three breakfasts, but in fact, their hotel can only book two by default. When I got there, I contacted Ctrip again, and Ctrip refunded me the breakfast fee for one person. Later, when I checked out, I asked the front desk to print out the bill to figure out how they calculated the breakfast. Here I will also introduce it to you: the hotel breakfast is priced at 25 yuan per person. It is not a buffet but a meal. After ordering, it will be posted to the room bill and charged according to the actual fee. But when I checked out, the front desk didn't mention the breakfast bill, and directly calculated the total bill. I found that the settlement email sent to me was the total bill including breakfast. I went back to the front desk and reminded her that I had booked a breakfast-included package. She said, ”Oh, sorry to check it.” Then she said she would refund 25 yuan/day/person (50 yuan/day) to my card. If I hadn't checked it, I would have charged it again without knowing it. So it is recommended that you don't include breakfast in this hotel. The quality of their a la carte breakfast is still good, and you can go to the restaurant to order it directly. In addition, the beverage coupons given in the lobby bar can be used in the lobby bar, but I didn't find out until the last day that it can also be used in the breakfast room. One coupon can be exchanged for a glass of juice or soft drink. Then the hotel also has free hot coffee and hot tea, but it is hidden next to the restaurant. You have to ask to understand. There are also two large cookies given when you check in, and you can ask her for them at any time. The front desk will be happy to give you two. Here I provide information for people with social anxiety and friends who are not good at English.

3333ひろ333I was surprised at how big the resort hotel was. There was a tram, but no boats. The service to make inquiries in Japanese ended in March. The shuttle bus to the nearby shopping mall was $5 one way, so I walked there (just over 20 minutes). The room was spacious, but the water flow in the bathtub was not so good. From the room, you could see the golf course and the sea. The grounds are large, so I got up early in the morning and took a walk, which felt great. The best spots to see the sunset were written on the map of the grounds, so I was able to see a really beautiful sunset. There were sea turtles and dolphins, and a fun pool, so I had a wonderful time.

AAnonymous UserOn the last day, I chose a hotel near the airport to stay overnight. The hotel is good value for money, but the old-fashioned air conditioner is very noisy. When I checked in at night, the girl at the front desk had the worst service I have ever seen in the United States. She had a sour face and was not at work. She only came out of the room after being called for a long time. It was really embarrassing for the hotel. Most of the bad points of the hotel are given to her.
