Fabulous pub with really friendly and accommodating staff. Popped in twice while staying in Tetbury for a local dig and can’t fault the service or the food. Made very welcome on first visit and a table was found for us to be able to eat there. Made to feel so welcome we came back two days later :) Hope the boss appreciates that having excellent staff like that leads to repeat visits. Ww will be coming back for sure.

Have just had a two night stay at the Royal Oak and we loved it! The room had a cottage cosy feel with a lovely bathroom - fab shower. The breakfast was amazing - compliments to the chef. We also had supper in the pub, one of the best burgers I’ve had - homemade and very tasty. The thing that set this place apart are the super staff.Adrian Jude, Sky, Tom, Mike and the housekeeper whose name escapes me. Nothing was too much trouble, helpful, friendly and welcoming. Great value for money and would definitely stay again ……

We walked up here in the day and thought from the outside it looked charming so booked a table online for later for dinner for 2 of us and the dog! However, what we should have done was go inside. When we returned later for our table we discovered the charm has been totally stripped inside. Very few features of an old pub left, tables crammed in, and no atmosphere. We had booked so thought we’d stay. Told lad on the bar we had table he said was upstairs but for 3 children. I explained I’d booked online for 2 adults and a dog. He proceeded to get the iPad to ‘prove’ the booking was for 3 children in restaurant. I explained we had the dog and it was two adults again and he said he’d try to sort it. We had a drink whilst we waited. He ignored us for 10 minutes and did nothing to seem to sort it. As we neared the end of our drinks he came over to say he’d ‘kick’ someone off a table and pointed to a table by the toilets. We politely declined. A real shame.

Came for a quiet dinner on a Monday night. They had a large party in the restaurant upstairs but service was still very good. Food delicious, nice to have a choice of 3 veggie mains! Had visited before for Sunday lunch which was excellent and will be back again for dinner.

Had lunch at The Royal, our waiter was very helpful.. Theo. We didn't have to wait for long, all freshly prepared. A very nice meal, I had a vegan choice, it made a nice change to not see vegan lasagne on the menu. Will happily go back next time we're in the area

Visited The Royal Oak for Sunday lunch (14/07) for the first time in a few years. The pub has a lovely atmosphere with nice grounds in a beautiful old building. We all had the Sunday roast which was delicious, a generous portion with fresh and tasty vegetables. The staff were very friendly and looked after us well. We took our dog with us, dogs are welcome in the bar which is always a big plus. All in all, a lovely lunch and will return again soon.

Me and a few friends have visited this pub many a times before and had a pleasant time. However, in our last few visits we have had a change of heart. A handful of staff are very attentive and caring of our presence; Iza, Sky, and Seb to name a few. But the other staff have not been very kind. The last time we were in we received a very unpleasant experience from the gentleman who announced he was the new GM (?? I don’t know what this mean…) . He was very abrupt to customers, and didn’t speak well to his staff. Other bar staff were satisfactory. We will have to rethink when we next visit.

I stayed at the Royal Oak for two nights, and was thoroughly impressed. I had dinner the first night at the Royal Oak, a vegan sweet potato curry with rice and a nan bread. It was hot - very hot! It was also delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. The cider was cool and refreshing, and it was nice to see customers with their dogs inside and outside of the pub. The room was in a separate building about 10 feet from the pub door and was comfy, cosy and absolutely spotless, and on the ground floor. The only thing missing was a wardrobe, but as it was a short stay on business only a minor annoyance. The bathroom was small and well laid out, though I did find that the shower cubicle leaked a bit after I used it! The shower was lovely - great pressure and temperature after a little adjusting. Night time was not completely undisturbed, as there was still a few people about after lights out, but once again nothing but a minor niggle. Comfy bed, nice and big. Kettle and the tea was very nice, TV worked well and the Wi-Fi speed was good and strong so I could watch iPlayer happily on my laptop without issue. I have the vegan breakfast both mornings, and it was lovely. Big mushrooms, veggie sausages, beans and toast was delicious. The member of staff remembered my order the second day, which was nice. Parking is at the back of the pub, and is spacious with lots of room. If you have mobility issue there is a slight rise to the pub but it's short and slight. I will be back in the area again so will definitely choose this pub again.
