We stayed for one night for a little birthday treat. We had a beautiful room (we stayed in the Authors Suite), wood burner, tea/coffee, biscuits, lovely big bath, big comfy bed, beautifully decorated and furnished just like the photos. The authors suite is in on the corner of the building which is on a busy road junction. With it being a listed building there’s no double glazing so you can hear EVERYTHING outside… cars, trucks, people. Luckily after 11pm it gets quiet, but early in the morning it all starts back up again. They have ear plugs in the bathroom pack so I guess these are for the road noise? I’ve got to be honest, we didn’t read the particulars on the website about the breakfast situation but was very surprised to see it cost extra to have a cooked breakfast after paying £210 a night. The ambience at breakfast was a little odd. The breakfast room was cold, another couple kept their coats on, it was completely quiet and the owner was lurking in the background on her laptop which didn’t feel very relaxing. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be coming back.
