Punakaiki Treehouse Limited

This place has the potential to be amazing. The beautiful native bush surrounding the treehouse is lovely and you do feel like you are up in the tree tops if you are in the upstairs rooms. That’s about the only great thing about it. We travelled with my sister and her husband who were in the Nikau room and we were in the Rimu room. The couples retreat was in between us with an adjoining door into the Nikau room. The people in the retreat were very noisy and easily heard through the door, keeping my sister awake until late. Our windows ran with condensation although there was no damp smell evident. Our blind wouldn’t stay up so the only way we could see the trees from the large kitchen window was by hooking it up to the window latch. The hot plates in both rooms were very old and rusty but did work. The decor is very tired and the whole place could do with a big refresh- carpet, bedding and paint. The walk in shower that they boast, is unimpressive. There were cobwebs around both rooms. Two bulbs in my sisters room didn’t work. The heating is by very loud fan heaters on the wall and we had to turn the tv up when the heater was on. Our tv was up on the wall at ceiling height which was ridiculous. Although there was sky sport which made hubbies very happy. Needed heat pumps installed. The decking would have been great if it wasn’t raining and cold. The decking of the couples retreat was very clearly seen by us from our kitchen window so is not that secluded. So on the whole a disappointing trip and unfortunately we won’t be back. Spending some money to update the units and installing heat pumps would make all the difference. However it appears from reading past reviews the owners/management are not interested.

The sourrandings are really amazing, the cabins are in the forest in a really cute place, but that is all (there are a lot alike around that área). First of all, we had to contact the agency because the directions were wrong and the place’s name we had was different, we sent them an email and had no answer, so We were lost for a couple of hours. When we finally Managed to get there, the smell of the Miró house was horrible, it was really humid on the inside, the carpet had a Lot of stinks on it and the bathroom was sooooo dirty with a lot of black mold (that is dangerous), the window was also disgusting… i wouldn’t recomend staying here

Wonderful location nestled in native bush, but easy to find and well sign posted. comfortable bed, great shower , sky TV. really handy to the Truman track and surrounded by native birds flitting in and out of the trees

We booked the Miro Studio on the ground floor for one night and were impressed by the space and layout. We'll equipped kitchen, large bathroom, good wi-fi and car parking on site. Good value for money. Be sure to bring your own meals to cook as there really is no where local to eat out. Ideally situated for Pancake Rock, Trueman Track and Punakaiki Cavern.
