Dubbed the “Peanut Capital of the World” and host to the National Peanut Festival, Dothan is an Alabama town with a salty soul. And yet, there’s more to us than just our signature snack; Dothan is a vibrant and whimsical city swathed in symbolic murals and natural wonders, craft breweries and enchanting gardens, waving wiregrass and period attractions. And here, against a multicolored background of Mother Nature’s art and mural masterpieces, sits the Courtyard Dothan. In proud Southern tradition, we extend the comforts of home in contemporary rooms & suites with free WiFi and HDTVs. Conveniently located near Fort Rucker and Farley Nuclear. Stay was excellent. Updated room and excellent, courteous desk executives made my stay perfect, I stayed there for 2 days and next visit I already made my reservation in the hotel. On top of it, the food at TAJ (recommended by desk staff) made the business trip real great.

When I booked the room I requested 2 queens. I was given a king and a sofa bed when I arrived. We made it work. I also requested a crib and it did not come with any linens. Thankfully we brought some from home. We had to ask for linens for the sofa bed, and did not receive a top sheet. The shower curtain had mildew. The Starbucks coffee was good and the barista was friendly. We were only there one night and did not use the pool or other facilities.

This property needs help. Seems like the franchisee has cut back on maintenance and amenities while charging more money than in the past for rooms. We were issued one tiny bar of soap, smaller than my index finger, to be shared between two people and shared between the sink and shower. How much money are they saving on hotel soap? The Marriotts we have stayed in the past have all had installed a three bottle dispenser inside the shower mounted on the wall. The bottles are labeled 39°North and contain shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. This property has the bottle holder mounted to the show wall but the tree bottles were missing. I assume another cut back. The bedding looked clean but the facility hasn't been cleaned in a long time. The windows were so dirty you could not look threw them. Sad.

Hotel is In seriously needs undated. Staff friendly and room clean but very dated. Will probably pass on this property until they have major renovations. They did have a sign that they were starting renovations.

Website says there is a restaurant on site. The Bistro. When I checked in, I asked how late the restaurant stays open. Response…”oh the restaurant is only opened yada yada yada”: Didn’t even pay attention to what he said other than it wasn’t opened that day! The Wi-Fi is iffy. There was no shower gel in the dispenser in the shower. There is a Fairfield (also a Marriott property) right next door. It was less money but we chose the Courtyard because of the restaurant. Also…the breakfast at the Fairfield is free (according to the website) but there was no free breakfast at the Courtyard. I know this is not the hotel’s fault. But just beware. Our gas tank (half full) was syphoned empty over night. The car was parked right out front. So…next time we will stay at the Fairfield and hope for better. But very disappointed at the Courtyard.

We were in Dothan for a baseball tournament this morning and I received my hotel check-in confirmation from Marriott around 10am. I booked the hotel room a few months ago and confirmed the reservation two days prior. When I went to check in at 6pm they said they were overbooked due to a plumbing issue and moved my reservation to a Hampton Inn 15 minutes away. The desk associate gave me a Mapquest print out with the phone number of the hotel and my name handwritten on it. No reservation number. I called the Hampton and they did NOT have a reservation for me. I went back to the courtyard Marriott. The desk associate said she would work on it and let me know momentarily. waited in the lobby for over an hour. During the hour I waited, the same associate asked me multiple times if she could assist me. I told her she was working on transferring my hotel room and she responded, “yes, I’m working on that.” Meanwhile she checked in other guests that somehow they did have rooms available for. Also of note… during that hour I stood waiting, another woman checked in the hotel and came back down to the lobby as the room they checked her into had guests staying in the room she went into! They comped her room and said they would give her extra Marriott points and switched her to another room. At the end of the hour, the desk associate gave me a piece of paper with another hotel name and number - Days Inn. She explained that my experience at Days Inn would be great and I was booked and set up and it was even a cheaper rate than I had at Marriott for a comparable hotel. I drove to the Days Inn, which was close by, and it was the sketchiest hotel I’ve ever been to AND they DIDN’T have a reservation booked for me. I checked in with an uneasy feeling and after I went to my room I went back to the desk and told the associate there that I didn’t feel safe staying with my children. He kindly refunded my money. I called corporate Marriott to try and get help with the situation. After calmly explaining my experience to the associate and asking for assistance, the associate said he could see Marriott did not charge my credit card for the room I booked when he looked up my reservation number. He disconnected the call without ending the conversation and did not call back. I ended up booking a hotel on my own at a Hilton for more than double what I was paying at the Marriott without assistance from the local Marriott or corporate Marriott. I will attach photos of the Days Inn they Marriott “switched” my comparable reservation to for reference. They hotel lobby at the Courtyard Marriott looked decent but the customer service was outrageously horrible, unorganized and unprofessional. Beware booking there that they may move your reservation to another hotel without notification and not even do that correctly.

nice hotel. clean rooms. frendly staff. The girl who checked me in made sure my partner and myself had everything we needed. The manager was also there everyday helping out where he could and made sure guest were taken care of. We stay at a lot of hotels throughout our work trip but I can honestly say this hotel showed they cared way more than others.

I was passing through Dothan and stood at this Courryard. The workers were very nice and friendly. Rooms were nice and bed were super comfortable. if I'm ever in the area again I'm going to make sure that this is my stopping point. You can tell that staff loves what they do and management cares.
