Charis the host is very friendly very responsive and helpful! It’s a great stay. The sofa bed is too soft and spring, not too good to sleep on.
We wanted to cycle for 20 minutes along the lake but it cost $10 for an hour so we decided not to since we don’t have enough time.

酒店雖然不大,但環境優美高雅安靜,有恆温泳池,從酒店步行幾步到陶波湖,步行其中,感覺太美了。值得推薦。

This motel in Taupo has a very nice environment, but it's more suitable for people with cars.
First, the location. It's a bit far from the city center on foot, and a taxi would cost around NZ$10. If you don't have a car, you should consider that. However, it's very close to Lake Taupo, basically just across the street. A walk along the lakeside path is a very pleasant experience.
There's also a small hotspot nearby where you can sit by the pool and soak your feet while looking at the lake. It's about a 5-10 minute walk away. Black swans occasionally appear in that area, but unfortunately, I didn't see any this time.
A plus for this place is the people. The owner is very friendly; he gave me a small bottle of milk upon check-in. The next day, when I was checking out and about to take a taxi to the bus station, he overheard me and offered to have his partner drive me there. We had a pleasant chat on the way, and he saved me NZ$10, which was a big plus.
The facilities are typical of a family-run motel. The room itself was fine, but there are a few things to note:
First, there were no window screens. Because the surrounding environment is quite natural, small flying insects can easily get in if you open the door or window at night (not a hygiene issue, but simply the environment itself), so it's generally not recommended to use them.
Secondly, the air conditioner is located in the entrance hallway, while the bedroom is inside. You need to walk through a corridor to get the cool or warm air in. In summer or winter, the perceived temperature might be slightly delayed, so you'll need to turn it on earlier.
There's also a laundry room in the accommodation area, but it closes around 8 or 9 pm, so remember to check the time.
Overall, this place is more of an environment-oriented accommodation. It's lakeside, quiet, and offers some nice touches (like a foot bath), but you might need to adjust a little to the location and other details.
Another detail about the room layout that can affect your sleep experience:
The bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom are connected, with only a door frame, not a door itself, creating a ”semi-open” layout. This means this entire space cannot be truly closed off.
If you are sensitive to light when sleeping, be mindful of the bathroom lighting. Because there's no door, light shines directly into the bedroom, so it's recommended to turn off the lights before bed.
However, this creates a somewhat subtle feeling: From the bed's position (especially the left side of a double bed), your feet are directly facing these two open spaces—a dark area extending inwards without boundaries.
This creates a feeling of ”space extending into darkness.”
Simply put, it's a darkness with some depth but no clear boundaries.
For some people, this layout can subconsciously keep them on alert, making it harder to fully relax, especially in unfamiliar environments, and slightly affecting their sense of security when falling asleep.
If you're particularly sensitive to spatial issues, be prepared for this.
Alternatively, the homeowner could consider adding a horizontal bar or a thick curtain for future improvements.

Fleets of mosquito!! We open the window as it was stuffy when we entered the room. Then, we were in shock when we saw infestation of these insects crowdee round the ceiling lights. Fortunately, the room aircon is cold and thus resulting them to be lethargic. And we went around the room and smashed each.

The pool facilities were great lots of options to choose from for swimming. The room was very basic which was fine, however the ”king” bed in the room was 2 single beds moved together so more like a double/queen. As a family booking with 1 bed we expected it to be a bit bigger. There was a half eaten packet of donuts left in our fridge and the microwave still had food splatter in it when we went to use it. We had booked for 3 pax and were only given towels for 2 people so would advise to take your own. The tv also get dropping out of signal which was also annoying.
We would consider coming back again but look into an extra bed next time. For the price we paid it was reasonable, I wouldnt want to pay more for the same room.

The room we received was nothing like the room advertised on your website. We made our booking through *********** based on the photographs, which portrayed a modern, clean, stylish, and well-maintained room. Unfortunately, the reality was completely different.
Instead of the fresh, contemporary room shown in the photos, we were given a room that felt old, tired, and poorly maintained. The flooring was covered with worn, old carpets and rugs rather than the clean, modern finishes we expected. The furnishings were dated, the overall appearance was shabby, and the room looked as though it had not been renovated in many years. It felt unclean and lacked the standard of comfort and quality that your promotional images suggested.
To make matters worse, the fan in Room 412 was not working, making the room uncomfortable. Throughout the night, every time someone walked along the corridor, the old wooden floorboards creaked loudly, disturbing our sleep. These maintenance issues significantly affected our comfort and overall experience.
To be completely honest, the condition of the room reminded us more of emergency housing than accommodation offered by a hotel with your name and reputation. The difference between what was advertised and what we actually received was shocking.
We specifically chose your hotel because of the high-quality images displayed on ***********. Those images created an expectation of a premium experience, but the room we received fell far short of that expectation. Had the room been accurately represented, we would have made a different booking decision.

Stayed in room 837 right up the back. The room was dark and not nice at all! Was ok for 1 night.
Staff were friendly. Close to everything. There is a bar/restaurant next door.
Probably wouldn't stay here again.

The public area is clean, the location is not far from the central area, and it is very convenient for self-driving tours. The basic facilities are simple but neat and clean. It is very comfortable in autumn, and it may be a bit hot in summer because there is no air conditioning in the room. Overall, I am very satisfied.
