Courtyard Tashkent

Tashkent|1.92km from Tashkent International Airport
This was our first visit to Uzbekistan with an open mind on what we would end up doing in Tashkent. We took the safer bet by starting our country tour with the Marriott brand we know well. We were not disappointed! This is a well-run, spacious, clean hotel and was an ideal choice to begin with. Predictably, the décor is totally “Marriott!”, so lacks a Central Asian feel to it, but that is as the brand dictates. In the kitchen they make up for that with an excellent range of menu items that spans great local Uzbeki dishes and high-quality international cuisine. There is clearly a lot of pride in the kitchen shown by the attention given to good presentation. The breakfast buffet is good too. It would be good if the hotel made more effort to promote Uzbek wines at the Lobby Bar, rather than focus on the more expensive international ones. In the restaurant, there is only a limited choice of local wine compared to other places and no wine at all in the 8th Floor bar. These are all minor quibbles though. It is the attitude of the staff that makes this hotel work best. Everyone is keen to give a good professional impression in each of their roles. The reception and restaurant staff were without exception universally polite, efficient and friendly. We were ever so thankful to Shuhrat at the front desk who got us well-organised from the start with a local SIM card, dealing with money and making helpful suggestions on how to tackle Tashkent and then organise the rest of our stay not only in Tashkent buy beyond. He is soft-spoken and gracious and a good listener. He could read our preferences quickly. On our return, it was Shuhrat who organised a very good driver/guide to visit the mountains and encouraged us to take a dip to go to the beach on Lake Charvak and enjoy a dip there. A big thank you to everyone at the Tashkent Courtyard for helping to make this one of the best exploratory vacations we ever had.

The Royal Mezbon Hotel & Spa

Tashkent|1.88km from Tashkent International Airport
My choice for this hotel at the end of my Uzbekistan trip had been its closeness to the domestic and international airports. For my stay in Tashkent at the beginning of my tour I selected a hotel closer to the centre. The surroundings of the Royal Mezbon are not very pleasant: a very busy street, almost impossible to cross and nowhere to go on foot. Out the window, in fact a whole glass wall, which I like, one only saw ugly apartment blocks from Soviet days. Taxis are the only way to get out from here. The hotel recommends itself also as a spa, but my time here was so limited, that I could not test it. Nor did I have a chance to try the breakfast due to an early flight. Instead I went for dinner, where there were hardly any other guests. There is a bar and a big list of cocktails in the menu card, but the barman seemed to be a total beginner and he didn't even know what brand their only draught beer is. For dinner I had an arugula salad to start, but it consisted mainly of pieces of beef, not mentioned in the menu card. After that I had a 'Traditional Lagman', made with Spaghetti instead of typical Uzbek noodles and again mainly full of meat, the same kind as in the salad before. The whole hotel is full of kitsch with a porch consisting of Corinthian columns and a rather overloaded interior decoration. At least the room was comfortable with a good bed and shower. Unlike most other hotels I stayed in Uzbekistan here one doesn't get an old-fashioned key, but a key card.

Oscar Boutique Hotel

Tashkent|2.07km from Tashkent International Airport
There are many hotels in Tashkent, but Oscar boutique is different from everyone. Entering in you get into another world, into another space, another time. The flavouring here works as well - the smell of the foyer is now not confused with any other. The mirror elevator will make the breathing silence and the music will calm down after a long road. I got a small room with a workplace and a view to the inner courtyard with a pool. One of the pleasant morning business is to unfold the curtains black out and smile in the sunny morning. Despite the proximity to the airport (7-8 minutes) by taxi, the sound of the planes I heard only twice. The sleep was calm - a comfortable moderately soft bed and a good sound insulation from the side of the corridor. Naturally, if someone loudly, full voice, is to hurry the neighbor to the exit at 5 a.m. in full silence, no dense door will save. A stunning bathroom: a little room and a large shower. What kind of plumbing: you can look at yourself in a shiny reflection. Cleaning is magnificent by the highest standards. Every day they changed towels, though I didn't drop their floor. Drinking water in glass bottles also updated daily. I would like to celebrate breakfast! I have been in many hotels in different countries, but nowhere has I been so impressed by the first meal! Light jazz, a cozy relaxing environment, the choice of dishes is striking imagination: you feel like a high event furchet. Thanks to Boris, the cook, who told me about the menu on the first day and had a salted fish of his own cooking. I was charging my energy just sitting at the table at the window, listening to music, drinking excellent fresh coffee and looking at the sun-filled street. Every detail in Oscar boutique is thought out, it feels that owners and administration have come to create a place with great love and professionalism. And you will feel it when you arrive in Tashkent

Cost-effective, the room is clean and tidy. The waitress will speak a little English. The location is good, a few steps out is the station, and the taxi here is also cheap. Note that the location of the hotel google map is not correct.
Sapphire Hotel

Firstly, they didn’t register a reservation for a few days from my colleague, although we can prove that the call was and talked with the administrator! Secondly, the administrator does not know what to do, his colleagues constantly call and consult on every issue, he does not speak Russian and does not understand what he is talking about at all. Thirdly - when talking about the fact that I settled in for 5 days and the payment will be from my Company after the first day of my stay - I was surprised that they put my things out of the room and told me to go up to the laundress myself and collect my things. “Here, go and pick up your own things, they are in the laundress over there.” Fourth, slander, the staff says that I allegedly was in another Velvet Hotel and it turns out that they claimed that I would move out of the Sapphire Hotel to another hotel, threatened with surveillance cameras and claimed that I was there. Fifthly, they talk boorishly to me! I was unhappy with the situation that my things were put out of the room without warning and in any case I was nervous. But you are a hotel management, if you work in the hospitality industry, you should have a different approach to guests. For slander there is an article and the law on my side!
