It is very pleasing now to find a pub that has a chef. You may pay more but you escape the ubiquitous menu offering the same old meals associated with'box food'. We had an excellent 3 course lunch, with good service, and a delightful amuse bouche. Crispy beef, potted crab, slow roast belly pork and stuffed pheasant breast, with dauphinoise potatoes, leeks and peas, carrots and broccoli. Afrogatto followed but I opted for sticky toffee pudding.....possibly the best I had ever eaten. Yes we could have eaten elsewhere for less, but for a little extra we were delighted to eat really well.

This is the second time we have stayed here. Wonderful service , nothing is too much trouble ! The food is excellent , recommend all the food. The rooms are very comfortable. We will be back again next year. There are plenty of walks with beautiful scenery and dogs are extremely fussed in the pub!

Visited for New Years Day lunch. Great food and service. 4 of us enjoyed different selections, all good sized portions and made of great quality local produce. Highly recommended. Located a little of the beaten track but worth a visit if staying in the area.

Thatched pub set amongst ‘chocolate box’ cottages in a lovely village. Friendly welcome and staff were only too happy to help. Room was lovely with great bathroom. Evening meal was absolutely perfect and the breakfast was everything you could want. Thank you all involved at the Langton Arms for making our anniversary stay memorable.

If you want a friendly welcome, courteous and good service with a delicious lunch, here is the place to visit. The food was wonderful. Not for the calorie conscious or for anyone worried about their waistline or heart, I recommend the sticky toffee pudding which was light and with a sufficiently sticky sauce and the homemade, creamy and smooth ice-cream.

We stayed for one night and found this little gem through Britstops, we had an evening meal and breakfast and everything was first class. We stayed in the car park in our motorhome with our 4 dogs and was made to feel very welcome - will definitely be back - thank you

I very rarely leave reviews on anything, however having had an evening meal here earlier with the family, I feel compelled. It was without doubt the nicest meal we've all had in a long time with amazing service & a beautiful courtyard setting. We had the rib eye steak, burgers & chicken schnitzel & it was all delicious & cooked to perfection. The desserts were indulgent & probably expanded the waste line by another inch, but who cares, we're on holiday. Our two teenage sons haven't stopped glowing about the visit & their meal, which takes some doing, so well done The Langton Arms!!! I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone.

We stayed for a few nights, having had to cancel a trip abroad at the last minute and wanting a break.  The Langton Arms website is very light on information about the pub/restaurant itself and even the accommodation offered (you will learn much more about the owning family's butchery and farming activities), but we decided to go ahead and book as it is in a part of the country we love. The interior of the pub has a somewhat neglected air about it.  This is in spite of the fact that it apparently burned down in 2004 - most of the fittings and furniture look as if they have been around much longer than 18 years and not in a good, traditional pub way.  The bar doubles up as dining room on quiet nights, which would be fine, but it would be nice to have a natural fire or stove rather than nothing in the fireplace on a freezing night.  I understand the owners are paranoid about fire, bearing in mind their past experience, but surely an enclosed wood burning stove would be safe.  The restaurant, as such, is a separate room, used only for breakfast during our visit.  The gas stove there had been lit minutes before we arrived for breakfast each morning and the room was very chilly.  Otherwise, this room has a tired and unkempt feel about it. It leads to another dining area, which in turn leads to yet another room with tables.  There is yet more space for functions in a conservatory. The bedroom was separate from the pub, across a "courtyard" which provides tables and benches for drinkers and smokers on warm evenings.  The bedroom and bathroom, again, whilst quite functional, had not received any attention for years and the fact that the provided toiletries were absolutely basic quality wasn't a surprise.  The bed was comfortable, the shower over the bath worked well, but the lavatory cistern ran continuously. The Langton Arms website is coy about the food and drink on offer, with no sample menu or drinks list, despite having "Food" and "Drinks" sections.  We dined in on two nights and the food was pretty good, although the prices were on the high side - see menu photo attached.  Every pub/hotel/restaurant has fish and chips on the menu, and the Langton haddock and chips at £18.95 puts The Langton Inn menu squarely at the pricy end of pub food.  Similarly, wine was expensive - £27 for a bottle of South African SB is not very good value for money. The high pricing extends to the room rate ("Website Offer - Discount Exclusive") - £135.00 per night is way above what one would currently expect to pay for the quality of bed and breakfast facilities provided at The Langton Arms - I would say 35%.  I fully appreciate the problems those in the hospitality sector are facing at the moment, but the answer is not simply to put up prices and expect customers to accept a decrease in value for money.  Maybe the answer could be for The Langton Arms' owners to play a more hands-on role in the running of the place, which seems to be managed by various other staff memb
