Fema Lodge

Stayed four nights. This property is not on any booking platforms (like all accommodations in Kiribati), so I booked via email. They didn't require a pre-payment. I had a standard deluxe room with balcony on the upper floor. The room was clean but basic and dated, with very high ceiling and dim lighting. Amenities included mini-fridge and electric kettle. Comfortable bed and pillows. Sufficient number of power sockets, although some are inconveniently placed. Dated bathroom, shower with good water pressure and hot water. Wifi was very slow and frequently disconnected. It required login every single time. There is a restaurant on site, which tries to accommodate the guests' requests. On the negative side: - The room rate includes airport pick-up and dropoff. However, even though I reconfirmed arrival time the day before and they acknowledged it, they still failed to show up at the airport. I was left stranded as there are no taxis, no wifi and I had no phone reception. Eventually someone tried to help me out, but none of the phone numbers listed on the reservation worked. - They charge an exorbitant 5.5% surcharge for credit card payments - During my stay there were two power outages, which also resulted in interruption of the water supply to my room. Apparently the property has a backup generator, but they don't turn it on.

Stayed here for 5 nights. Has a little restaurant. Nothing fancy but the Chef and Waiting staff cater for your requests. The lodge provides pick and drop from the Airport. I had to move to another hotel to stay another 2 days. The room is ok. Cleanliness is not up to standard. The cleaning staff needs some training I guess. As there was women's hair in the bathroom and on its walls. The logdge wifi didnt reach to my room. Which was at the very end of the lodge.
