To be picked up at the airport by a boat was a very good way to start our 3 night stay at Le Taha’a. Check-in went well and we were thankful for the offer of a day room as we had about 6 hours until our room would be available. THE FOOD: The first day we ate lunch and dinner at 2 different on-site restaurants and both meals were a bit disappointing. After being in and out of the airport in Tahiti we ate 3 times at the L'Aviation Restaurant. With the exception of the Le Taha’a breakfast, the airport restaurant had meals that were consistently better. THE STAFF: Everyone was friendly and as helpful as possible. If you can find the concierge, I am sure they would be capable of helping you out also? Big shout out to Sylvie on the 2.5 hour gastronomy supper. THE ACCOMMODATIONS: The Good: Our beachfront villa was very clean and spacious. We were near the end of the resort property and rarely saw anyone near our accommodation. Aside from the drone (which is frowned upon) at the next-door villa they were also rarely heard. The Bad: There was a sour (sulphur) smell coming in from outside at check-in. It wasn’t terrible but without a doubt noticeable and originating from a small amount of rotting material that had washed up on the beach. Day two brought more stuff to the beach and along with that came more odor. I managed to track down a pitchfork and out of frustration my wife and I spent about 30 minutes in the early afternoon cleaning up our section of the beach, creating piles of sea material, coconuts and trash at each end of our beach. With impeccable timing, just as we were finishing a crew of 5 guys, a tractor & a truck came and cleaned up our newly formed piles and the adjacent beaches. They were a little late but it was better than not showing up at all. Day three brought 3 or 4 times the amount of sea material and trash (Turbinaria sea plants, lumber, coconuts) creating a 7’-8’ wide line of debris by noon. Midafternoon several guys from the prior days cleanup crew stopped by and looked things over and strangely enough, they left. Later that afternoon I persuaded someone from management to stop by, they seemed surprised by the quantity of material (and smell) there on the beach? However, nothing was done at all that day regarding cleanup. On the morning of our last day, just an hour prior to our departure, several of the cleanup crew stopped by once again. And with the ocean current being just right and working in their favor they began to rake everything out into the sea to watch it slowly drift away from the island. When checking out they offered to waive our private boat transfer fees which were supposedly already included in the price we had paid upon booking. We've been to many resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico and for the price we had paid for this one, this was a disappointment.
